I'm bored on a Saturday and figured I would start a thread as it relates to vintage/classic cars. I can't be the only one on this board who is into cars. When I say I'm into cars, I mean I literally look and talk about cars every single day of my life. It comes up in a portion of my work/job, I'm obsessed with them and constantly on forums, etc. Essentially, I just love me a good car whether it be old or new.
With that being said, I'm hoping to start a thread on vintage cars. Would love to see everyone's project cars, finished cars, cars they have found for sale, or just cars you admire, etc. Also, would love to hear any back stories on how you came about your particular car (or love of cars).
As I started the thread, I'll give my rundown how I got into this love. Growing up, my grandfather (recently passed) restored old classic cars. He helped raise me during my formidable years, so I spent many a day out in the garage with him. My favorite car he ever did was a 1941 Ford. At the time, I was probably 4-5 years old. One day, right after completely refinishing and painting the hood for it, he went inside to grab something to drink. When he came back out, he heard hammering and walked in to find me wailing away at that hood with a hammer. Evidently I looked up and said "I'm helping you fix the car." That hood never did look right after that, you could always see very small imperfections if you looked close enough. Thankfully, Grandpa got over it and I had many cars to rebuild with him once I got to High School.
As of now, I am in the process (ALMOST DONE) of restoring/resto-modding a numbers matching 1968 Chevelle SS. One of my brother's (a mechanic) and I talked about snagging a classic car to do some things to a couple years back. We tracked down an awesome Chevelle that really didn't need much at all. When we went to pick it up, my brother (who was going to do most of the wrench work back in my home state) thought it looked almost perfect and all we were going to do was to put the A/C back into it and maybe switch out the front seats for my tall body. Well, it spiraled out of control from there and almost 2 years later I have an absurdly customized 1968 Chevelle SS (essentially torn down to the frame and built back up with some unique options) pushing out 725+ HP with a custom paint job based off an old Ferrari. We have thousands of photos on it during the build and I will post some up of the "finished" project once she makes her way out to California in the next month or so. For now though, I'll add just a couple of photos from when we first picked it up.
