There are obviously a lot of different ways to cut weight, and no one way is the right way for everyone, but I'll share what has consistently worked for me, and allowed me to control it long term.
I love to eat shit food, there's no way around it. There's the saying, you either eat to live, or live to eat. I'm a live to eat guy, to the point that I workout so I can eat how I want.
My wife is a certified nutritionist, so we've tried all the juice diets, cleanses, fasting, etc.. all with varied success.
But after a certain point, it wasn't fun.
All I do is portion control.
Let's say I goto my normal steakhouse restaurant, instead of ordering a salad, I'll still order my goto mushroom crusted ribeye and basket of truffle fries.
But I'll only eat half. Exactly half.
Now the above is a bad example, but I'll take the rest home, and have it for lunch the next day.
Because at the end of the day, I'll still get to enjoy what I would normally eat, I'm just stretching out the time it takes me to eat it.
Is it a little difficult at first? Sure, but whenever I'm faced with the decision to finish my portion or to take it home, I remind myself it's a lot easier to create the caloric deficit by eating less than running 20 minutes to burn a few bites of steak and potatoes. The other thing is that by reducing portion size, it's not that I'm eating less than others, I'm probably starting to get closer to what I'm supposed to eat per meal in terms of caloric intake.
This will start to become habitual while still allowing you to eat what you want.
This won't be the fastest way to cut weight, but it is easier to gradually integrate into your routine. Obviously, consistent exercise etc etc are important, but I find this works for me.
Whatever you decide, make sure it's a sustainable solution that leads to a longer life. Dropping weight is half the battle, keeping it off is arguably the harder part.
I have a cheat day once a week where I will eat as much as I want, but it's funny, because that night I will always workout twice as long, so is it really a cheat day?
You guys got this!
