Why is it so hard to stick with one ball? I’m not good enough to notice a difference between balls. Hell, I was seriously considering playing a pink ball (Callaway) earlier this year. For most of the year I played ProV1x left dash. Could I tell the difference between that and a regular X? V1? (Fuck the AVX) No I probably can’t. Why did I play the left dash? I don’t know 🤷‍♂️. Hard to get? Tour shit? No idea.

But....

Every time I look at my good round balls (mega joke in there), they’re all ProV1. All of them. I’ll probably roll ProV1 next year. It’s a mental thing now, but what in golf isn’t?

Anybody else a ball whore? I must have 1k balls in my closet, all different kinds, mostly new.

Am I rambling? Yes. Just waiting out my midterm, watching students bomb the test.

I tend to like the ProV1, too. They're just incredibly consistent in all areas of the game for me. Had a brief affair with the original TP5X, but got tired/scared of the lower spin quite quickly.

Pro V1x for me. I've tried many different variants of this ball from other manufacturers but "I'd rather be driving a Titleist" I suppose. It may just be years of playing a Titleist ball since the Professional 90 and Tour Balata in my junior days. Just a confidence thing when my ball says Titleist.

I think I’ve played every popular ball this year. Started with the Prov1 went to ProV1X then Tiger ball next was Vice to see what all the hype was. Truvis looked cool so started playing them then TP5 Pix and have settle on TP5 Pix for the remainder of the year

Growing up I exclusively played the Pro V1. When I got to high shcool, I played the Bridgestone Tour b330. I have a trophy case with all of my balls I won tournaments with. I think there's 20 in there (including the State Tournament) and 19 of them are B-stone.

When I got to college, I switched back to the ProV. Our coach insisted we play the X for windy days (30mph is a calm day where I went to college). I know they've since switched what the X and V1 do.

Since then...I've bounced between every ball too. Stones, tp5, tp5x, V1yellow....But am currently playing the Tp5 PIX and love it!

I’ve been wanting to try the pix BUT the mental shit just kills me. Love the idea behind the design.

bigjohntripod for me they have been a game changer putting. Since switching to them I went away from lining up a line to putt and being very rigid to picking one of the triangles and focusing on that spot. Picking a spot on the ball has made me flow much better on the greens.

I will probably test the new 2020 Truvis and the TP5 Pix head to head this winter and see which keeps spin up for me better. Either way I’ll be playing Pix or Truvis

I try balls every year. For the longest time it was always ProV1x, then Titleist did the dumbest thing ever and switched the ProV1x and the ProV1 characteristics for whatever reason. That started me trying other manufacturers out. For a while I played a lot of Callaway Soft (if I'm being honest, I think the designs got me with the Truvis). This year I switched over to Bridgestone and absolutely love them. It's quite shocking as in the last couple of weeks I've randomly grabbed some ProV as well as Callaways from the shelf (leftovers) and played with them. I immediately note a difference on both versus my Bridgestone. Maybe it's a mental thing, but at this point I hate playing other balls. I have boxes and boxes of these other balls, but they won't be played anytime soon.

DaHOF yeah this made me so mad. It drifted me off as well. I am curious to see what this year's iterations will be as well. But I guess not that curious because I bought 5 dozen TP5x a few weeks ago

But will also randomly play Wilson, Bridgestone, Callaway, Srixon, Maxfli, Pearl, Vice and Snell.

I'm really adept at losing both expensive and cheap golf balls but I'm not good enough to notice that much of a difference in my game based on the golf ball on the ground.

I'm not good enough to notice the difference either. I've been playing the original lawsuit Kirkland balls since I bought 4 dozen when they first came out. Almost out of those and I might have to go back to Project (a) balls if they still make them because I always really liked the feel of those. Before Project (a) I always played a Bridgestone e6 so might have to go back to give the Bridge a try now that @DaHOF is speaking highly of them 😉

I switched to Vice this year given my propensity for donation. Seems to match the Prov1 to me based on sight and sound.

I know "getting fit" is important, but I have tried quite possibly everything on the market. From 2 piece Volviks and Wilsons to TP5s, Pro V1s, etc. I have shot some of my lowest rounds with both cheap and expensive balls. Of course, feel is where I can tell the difference, MAYBE "spin" around the greens. That's really it. In terms of full shots spin, launch, I guess it's because I'm not good enough a golfer to fully discern.

I played ProV1s exclusively during my high school years as they were always provided to us prior to our matches, but have since switched to the Srixon Z-Stars. I don't notice a big difference tbh and I get a hefty discount on them 😁

I do switch to a lower compression ball (i.e. Wilson Duo) during the late fall and early spring weather though! Feels to me like the Duo's are a tad bit longer and softer in colder weather

If it doesn't say Practice on the ball I'm not playing it. 63 dozen more balls to use so I can go back to regular boxed balls since I don't really go on the DOND anymore. 😆
