Thoughts on raw wedges vs plated

I am in the market for new wedges but am just about done with chrome platings. I’ve had my SM7’s for less than a year and they look really beat up. Leaning towards raw as it won’t show the same wear. What are your thoughts on raw wedges?

The grooves look fine. I would just get them stripped from Oughton’s golf. $17/head. Do it during the off season though as it’ll take a week or two to get them back.

I had a set of MP33s done and they came back looking like a new set

Don’t hit so many range balls with them. Or if you do...make sure the club is clean and no sand on the range balls. Sand destroys the faces.

ive had my wedges for 2.5 seasons and they still look fresh

I always prefer raw heads. I just prefer the look.

I’m all about the patina and anti-glare. On my third set of raw wedges and will never go back.

Pro tip: It also heals any toe-shiners you hit out of bunkers..

If I can get raw wedges, I get raw wedges. I've always loved the way they rust up. Also, before they get to that point, they have no glare issues, and always look so clean. My home course also has a lot of native areas and plated wedges are pointless anyways.

Fan of raw unless you have a kid that doesn’t take care of things and you look in his golf bag and see what looks like an antique someone just pulled out of a barn.

I love raw wedges because you can always make them look new with some sandpaper. I also like that you can sand blast one off of the toe and it doesn’t show as much as the chrome 😉

This is golf and range sessions for half of 2018, all of 2019, and less than 10 rounds and essentially zero range sessions in 2020.

I keep the face and grooves clean and wipe range balls if I have to.

My CB57s are just as clean and I’ve had them since late 2016.
