  • Who else is a part of the driver/shaft of the month club?

So I think I am done with the light X flex experiment. I think the shaft is too stiff for me as it is either really good or really bad with nothing in between.

I still have the new Ventus that I need to try but I need to figure out how much tipping needs to be done.

I will spend an hour today on the range just hitting drivers to see what I like.

Dude, yesterday was shit in terms of weather.

So here's my strategy. I have a nice day shaft and a bad day shaft.

I'll always have both. BF and DF.

If it's cold, or rainy, I will use the BF, because on days where the weather is not good, I just don't turn as well, so a softer shaft gives me peace of mind, because I know my swing speed drops to the lower end of the spectrum. Also on days where my left arm is sore I will go with this shaft. Especially on rainy and cold days, wearing multiple layers hinders my move through the ball

When the weather is nice, I go DF because I know I can hit the 110 side of my swing speed.

I say keep the ZF and find an-off day shaft.

So I spent 2 hours on the range today and dedicated one full bucket to just drivers. I brought out the Triple Diamond with the Accra TZ6 M4 and the SIM with an Accra TZ5 M4, ZF X stiff and a Tensei white X stiff. I was swinging well today so I knew this would be a great test. Without going into details to bore you the SIM like on the course was either really good or really bad no matter what shaft was in it. The Tensei was about .50in shorter so I wanted to see how that was. Nearly every miss was off the planet right right the SIM. The good shots were smoked.

The Triple Diamond just wanted to go straight no matter what I did with it. The misses were really good as well.

Now I just need to see if this works on the course and I will be set on the driver. (Yeah right)

brushie if tomorrow’s round shows me what I saw on the range then I am set for driver for the rest of the year. Famous last words right?

dphatt I have a feeling we will being another driver/shaft face off right around the start of summer.

      ckay

I'm guessing we will see an update tomorrow 🤣

I'm taking the DF sim combo to the course today, let's see what happens, will report back.

Eddie I think the DF is something I can really get along with. It is the new gen whiteboard?

ForeLeft have a birthday round for a good friend Saturday. I'm going to pull the plastic off on the first tee box and see what it does, haha.

dphatt used this shaft for about two years 70 g X flex (ss 124), tipped to 43.5. it was incredibly smooth. Very underrated shaft imo.

So I played with the Epic Flash Triple Diamond with the Accra TZ6 today for 9 holes. It looks to have kept its place in the bag. Money match tmr so let’s see how it performs under some pressure.

"If I hit the fairway with this ball, Epic Flash will stay in the bag for the rest of the year." -dp

I can confirm that fairway was hit.

Took out the DF, played while carrying a camera, no warmup, and I didn't like what I saw.

It's not so much the perfect swings, whether they produced great flights or not, the more I become a casual golfer, I'm seeing how shaft choices affect days where your swing is just off. Does it contribute to blocking it off the planet, or help mitigate bad contact?

I didn't hit a single drive solid the entire round. Front 9 I played with the DF and was in places I haven't been in a long time (in a bad way), and the back 9 with the BF, I mishit every drive, but was in the fairway every time.

So, for now, back to the BF, it's not the longest, but for days when all the swing matchups aren't there, it helps keep the ball in play. I like that instead of going with a higher lofted head, going with a mid kick shaft is what converts the SIM into a fairway finder.

        ckay

Yeah. What driver head do you play right now?

NICE. Can't wait to hear about this....

Eddie that was your ball in the fairway ten yards ahead of me on your miss hit drive while mine was in the rough behind you even with a cart path assist 😂

Eddie Have you tried the ZF at all? From what I've read it is a BF with a reinforced tip section. Should probably play somewhere inbetween the df and the bf.

Golfingfanatic I had it in a 50tx, was solid but a little stiffer than I prefer. Maybe a 60s will be next.
