Being a lefty gear head is tough... lately I am just not finding something that catches my eye and very close to sending Patrick an email to begin the process on some custom irons. I would be interested to hear if any of you have played with NCW irons or gone through the consultation process. Hesitant to move forward on clubs that I am unable to hit. However I hear the process is very thorough and I feel like I have landed on good playing specs of lie/length/loft + shaft for my current swing. Interested to build some sort of raw combo set kinda like these 5/6/7 (CB) 8/9/P (MB) and maybe a GW

I've thought about commissioning a half set for a minimalist bag but want to try it out with my current set first to see if it's an idea I can get along with.

If you are not in a rush it might be worth ordering just a single iron first, see how you like it and if you really like them order the rest of the set.

I have a set. I was lucky in that a friend got - set, and I extensively Demo’d his on course. So I just had them create an exact copy for me. Best feeling blades I’ve ever hit, and I’ve tried a lot. The one negative, Ari was really responsive until he got money, and then the responsiveness went away completely. Also. 8-10 week timeframe for delivery went to about 8 months.

I went through the process and they were so backed up at the time it ended up taking ₁₀ months for me to get them in hand. With my old set I was converting over to a half set permanently and worked to find the gapping that fit me best (turns out that was 8*, working up from the bottom of the bag)

I went half set with NCW [58 / 50 / 42 / 34 / 26] and haven't looked back. Top of the bag goes 20* srixon driving iron, 5w, and then Driver. Including the putter I only carry 9 clubs total.

The process with NCW was very specific and you need to know your numbers and tendencies but I would highly recommend them.

pfdz I had a set of LH irons built by Don and Co. back a few years ago. They do a couple sets a year. I went with the split cavity square toe 4-PW. Absolutely loved them, was hitting balls on the range at SACC when a member walked up and hit a few balls with them and offered to buy them from me for more than i paid for them.

Are they that much more than a Miura? They’re definitely beauties. My game is trending in the wrong direction to bag them though.

ckay I think they start at 400 per head. So for 7 clubs you're looking at 3-4k depending on shafts and grips

These timeframes and prices are downright wild 🤯. I know they’re not for me and I’m plenty happy with just being a basic Mizuno irons guy. 😂.

OffTheDole they quoted me at 4.5k for a set of raw irons back in 2013 (may have been scratch instead of NCW at the time too). That was a quick no from me lol.

Putterho 😆 Everything is relative. Compared to those NCW and Miura guys, my direct-from-Mizuno irons might as well be from Nordstrom Rack!

Also, I would like to point out that I have a combo set. My blades don't start until the 7 iron.

This is brilliant.

The first mark on my PW was out near the toe and it shames me every time I pull that club. No way am I spending $4k+ on clubs that would end up telling on me!
