OK, REVIEW TIME!
I've never been this excited for a training aid, or to hit balls on the range before.
To preface, I'm a scratch player, played collegiately. I can wedge it with the best of them. My short game is my scoring mechanism. I hit it relatively far for my height (300+ and I'm only 5'5"). I struggle with mid to long irons, so that's really been my goal this season is to get more consistent with the irons. My miss is a big rope hook.
I put on the G box when I get to the range. Felt a little awkward, as there were three other people there and I could tell they were looking at me.
Make some practice swings to really get the feeling of the turn. HOLY CRAP....I didnt realize how little I actually turn. LOL. I highly advise watching the How to Turn video on his YouTube Chanel to understand left bend and leg extension/flexion.
That wast the biggest eye opener for me. I continued making slow mo practice swings really focusing on the turn to get the white line to the ball. Once you get it, it's game changing. Then I got a little external with my back arm and got the feeling of where it needed to be on the back box. Some all new positions...it was cool to feel.
So let's take our first shot!
Set up. Take a swing.....and....TOP. š
ok....reset.
Set up. Take a swing....and....THIN. š
let's step back and do a coupe more slow mo's....
Take three
Set up. Take a swing...and...FLUSH.
repeat. FLUSH. repeat. FLUSH. repeat FLUSH.
I've never hit he ball like this before. I'm not joking.
I tend to get a little flippy and catch it on the toe. I was hitting effortless laser beams with dead center flush contact, EVERY SINGLE TIME.
The sensation of rotating and my new positions came quickly, and it was invigorating. I could tell I was picking up speed too. I've never rotated like this or had speed like this. The occasion knicking of the back box told me I was getting a little stuck, but it didnt do anything pain wise or to my contact, but got immediate feedback to change the next swing.
I'm amazed at how this worked for every club. wedges, irons, hybrid, woods, and driver.
I could really tell I picked up speed with the driver....
Very impressed with the G box.. Early score on this is an easy 10/10.
I can't wait to go back to the range tomorrow.
This was just a practice swing, I wasn't even close to the ball, so don't make fun of the ball position. lol.
