Random thought of the day. I've always been a "club ho", but that usually entails multiple irons, drivers and putters. While I constantly buy new wedges, I rarely change the brand. I've been predominately Vokey for well over a decade. Yes, like a scorned lover I've dabbled here and there, but never for more than a week or so at a time and always, always, ALWAYS, I come back to my true love, Vokey. This season, I have found myself straying more than usual. It started with a fitting down at Ely with Roger Cleveland and I went to the newest Callaway Jaws MD5 wedges. Fitting was amazing and I got a full set. They showed up, I put them in the bag reluctantly, and bam, they've now been in there for almost a year shockingly enough. However, I've been pining for something new lately and of course, this week I have put my Vokey's back into the bag for a round at Torrey Pines tomorrow. In addition to this, I also have my order in for the new Cleveland ZipCore wedges (in raw). This is by far the most random wedge brand selection I've had in quite some time. In addition to these three different brands, I'm also constantly tempted buy the new Bettinardi wedges (I narrowly avoided buying a set recently from a buddy because I didn't like the shaft option and I was too lazy to change it). When did I get this way? Is there anyway to come back from it? My pocketbook will not be happy if I'm now buying a set of wedges every other week as I need that money for shoes, bourbon, cigars, drivers, blow and other fun things. With all of that being said...any recommendations on other wedges I should try?

I dropped a Miura 56* K grind back into the bag while I wait for the Cleveland zipcore 56 to complete my set. Was great through 54 holes over three days this past weekend and makes me wonder if I should keep it in play until it goes sideways at some point. Zipcore 56* arrives tomorrow and might see some action tomorrow night.

Jaybananapantsarthur I've dabbled with Miura in the past and keep trying to talk myself into a set to match with my irons. I keep telling the voices in my head to shut up on that front.

I had a Miura three wedge k grind setup for awhile. Liked them enough to start hoarding backups. And for no real reason (ho) went to the RTX. 😂

I’m sure you know what I’ll say brotato. After that Artisan fitting, I just don’t think there’s another wedge that comes close to it. We’ll se when they come in but, I’m pretty sold on them after poking the options at the fitting. Seriously considering a putter fitting but, I fucking roll the Spider. Like, that thing is tits. It may never leave the bag. Ever.

Bro, here's my thing about wedges. I used to love buying bespoke wedges, or experimenting with various companies. Y cutter TM wedges were my first "expensive" wedge purchases, then bought a ton of Fourteen for a while. I'll tell you what smacks me in the face every time I goto my chipping area in the basement. My hand ground V pro channel Vokey, the coolest wedge I ever bought. $400. After one season of use, it's worn out. So I don't use it anymore except for just chipping in the basement. That's so sad to me. After that, I'm off the wedge ho'ing train. To pour 4-500 dollars into a club that I will only use for a year is no longer something I will do. The main reason is because I'm a range rat, so I pound wedges and they wear quickly. So that keeps me away from some of these wild wedges, God knows I've been looking like you for a really long time. I now look for decent readily available wedges to go through. All that being said, I can't wait for the TW wedges to come out, that sole has a lot of playability similarities to a V.

Eddie I’m with you on this one. I have a Vokey hand ground 60 that was unreal. But one season and I was done with it. I have stuck to buying OTR Vokeys to have fresh grooves and the right shaft combo. But I’m currently very interested in the Fourteen Wedges. Ultimately Wedges are tools to me. The get beat up. I hit shot out creeks off rocks and then buy a new one. Had to get out of the $400 wedge game.

Didn't even know there was a $4-$500 wedge game and I ain't going looking for it either 😂

I feel you guys on the "custom wedge" train. I had the pleasure of doing a fitting with Mr. Vokey years ago and got three wedges ground by the man. Like you @Eddie they sit in my garage looking all nice and rusted up, but they can't be used on a course anymore with any real scoring success. I too am searching for that "off the rack" wedge I can keep buying multiples of. Vokey has been that for a while now, but I find my eyes wandering as of late.

Also, @bigjohntripod when you made the comment about buying 3 pairs of shoes this year, I felt bad about myself for how many I've bought this year...then I realized I'm a lost cause and such is life 😅

Putterho is he as good as he markets himself to be? There’s a place called Novogolf across the river from me and I’ve had them do some real simple stuff and it was sloppy work.

ckay I've heard of NovoGolf on the east coast but Joe runs a small shop in Cali. Kwok's a legend back in the old forum days and his work would be top notch. He has his wedges in a lot of the Kornferry bags from the asian cali kids.

Putterho I’ve been watching Joe’s work for 15 years and remember when he first started grinding wedges with some blanks. Always showed clean work and it sounds like he holds that standard for everyone. I just hate when you see clean work in photos and you get back sloppy stuff.

Putterho I’ve never had any work done by Joe. Just admired his work and learned some clubmaking tips through his posts over the years.

Novogolf is in the NY metro area outside of Manhattan. They’re top ranked and build some really cool stuff like Epons, Itoboro, etc. The work looks awesome in photos. However I had a putter reshafted last year as I was in a pinch and didn’t have a shaft cutter. It wasn’t ready when they said it would be which is time and money for bridge tolls. When I picked it up a couple of days later there was epoxy on the hosel cup and on the shaft. Not a big deal and a simple fix for me but I went there expecting perfect work and paid a premium for said work. Left a bad taste in my mouth and at this point I’ll just buy the equipment as I need to do my own work and know it’s bang on.
