I know we share the affinity for TM heads, but the Callaway Super Hybrid might be a viable option. It's hot, and size wise sits dead in between a hybrid and a fairway wood head, and is plenty long. (killer stock shaft too, tungsten Tensei Orange Pro)
Before I got my PXG hybrid, I was debating between super hybrid and 5 wood to swap out on days where UDI isn't needed (similar predicament to you), and as much as I dislike PXG in general, the hybrid is great and plenty long.
I just worry if a 4 wood was too long for the yardage you are trying to fill, a 5 wood might be as well. And for a control club, I'm a huge proponent of the shorter the club the better, especially out of less than perfect flat lies.
