FunwoodyCC Big boy bourbon that isn't for the pretenders!
Putterho speaking of big boys...this 2012 Hazmat 🤯
FunwoodyCC 142.8 is next level. They don't make em like they used to!
FunwoodyCC Hazmat 🔥🔥
Wanted to share this bottle with y’all because it’s just a really cool bottle, and it might not be in my collection much longer. I’ve been contemplating selling it to fund other purchases.
Booker’s Batch No C-E-15-84 was bottled on May 15, 1984...4 years before the first commercial release of Booker’s in 1988. Prior to 1988, Booker Noe would personally hand-select barrels from what he considered the best part of the rickhouse to be bottled straight from the barrel and given as gifts to close friends, family, special customers, and Jim Beam executives. This particular bottle appears to have been given or sent to someone in Japan.
Also, how cool is this 1970 Old Fitzgerald Master’s Caddy Patch? As a sponsor of The Master’s tournament that year, these patches were probably worn on the caddies uniforms. This particular patch belongs to a retired Stitzel-Weller employee, and I have not been able to find another despite considerable searching.
FunwoodyCC that patch is unreal! Let the hunt commence!!
Just joined Tees & Coins this week. Here's the most recent pic of my collection. Got into bourbon 4-5 years ago but don't drink it that often. Obtained a PVW 23 year a few years ago and traded it for 12 Side Project beers. George T Stagg is from 2014 (138.1 proof), Old Forestor Birthday Bourbon is from 2012, and Four Roses Talk Beer (more into beer than bourbon) Single Barrel picks are OESV and OESQ. Not pictured: recently acquired ORVW and Blanton's store pick from local liquor store's annual bourbon release.
jarrgal Nothing wrong with any of this my man! Welcome to the thread.....and the hunt addiction 😉
jarrgal Nice collection man! That McKenna is a sleeper favorite for me. Almost done with my bottle. Birthday Bourbon is one that has alluded me.
I have tried to avoid it, but it’s time to get back in the hunt. Never got too much wild stuff (PVW 20 did fall in my lap once) but I have been drinking through my supply haha.
A good buddy gave me a new bottle of Blanton’s as an engagement gift when we were in Pinehurst for my bachelor party. Didn’t hurt it too bad but he still brought me a second bottle for my wedding last weekend. Happy to be sitting pretty on Blanton’s for awhile!
What’s Side Project beer that PVW23 is worth 12 of?
ckay I can’t recall all 12 bottles, but it included a lot of the fruited sours (e.g., Fuzzy, La Fosse, Thicket), Unblended, & Merci Batch 1. The secondary value of the beers on My Beer Cellar based on sales data matched up closely with recent sales of PVW23 posted on Bottle Blue Book at the time.
That’s crazy!
Happy Thanksgiving fellas! 🥃 🦃
StetsonMinerals the best!
Highly recommend Pappyland as a gift for a fellow bourbon fan this Christmas. Pick up a copy for yourself, as well. Great read.
WB3 I saw the story on CBS morning news the other day which was beyond cool as well. Great to see some interviews and old photos of the Van Winkle's. Definitely need to pick up the book soon 🙂
WB3 I refuse to read that book until I get a bottle to go with it. #TheHuntGoesOn
WB3 I got the book and watched the chat between Wright and Julian. Chat was great, excited to dive into the book.
PureStickGolf second that!
PureStickGolf I hate to even tell you how lucky I got on my bottle. A friend of mine that doesn't know PVW from Early Times won the lottery for it. He was pumped to sell it on secondary for an outrageous sum. I talked him down to where he still made a little profit but I still got a steal compared to secondary. I have tried to share it with friends (too many probably haha) and I have a heavy pour, maybe two, left. I have held on to it for too long but I can't bring myself to finish it haha.
