Hope everyone's having a great weekend so far..... I on the other hand have been in a tailspin the last month trying to find the right putter (paralysis by analysis to the MAX) Anyways, anyone have any experience with the new NP2 Special Selects? It seems like they're a bit more forgiving than previous generations of NP2s or Anser style blades since the headweight dropped and the weights are 60-80gs pushed out. Any thoughts, I'd love to go back to the NP2, tried the Squareback but just couldn't vibe with it and I still hate the fact that I can't get a milled faced Spider X.... Signed... stuck in putter hell.

icec0ld I tried the NP2 and Squareback. I couldn’t vibe with the squareback either. It was much more stable and probably a better putter for me than the NP2 but I didn’t like looking at it. The best blade putter for me this year has been the new Ping Anser 2 Heppler. Incredible feel and easy to align with the copper/black contrast.

Sounds like you need to split the difference and get a Scotty notchback icec0ld

Notchback is the only Cameron I really get along with. Great putter that I hope he brings back in the future.

looks good but i can't get down with bend shafted putters.... otherwise i'd probably have a phantom x 12.5 now.... if only my twins would understand if i bought a circle t....

Sounds like a Spider X with a flow neck is what you are after. Can't fight the tech. Believe me, I have had mostly Camerons in my bag. Had a Phantom X 6 for a little bit, but like you not much of a fan for bend shafts. The Spider X is pretty incredible.

I’d have to agree on the Spider. I’ve fought trying to putt with a blade for as long as I can remember. I still take one out and roll it when I’m just playing for fun. When the pressure is on with money or bragging rights on the line the Spider goes back in the bag.

The only issue with the flow neck is you basically have to take a gamble on it and order one custom. Not a cheap gamble either at $420.

i've thought of the bat attack and the operator. i really like the spider look and the operator is close. i played around with a np2 over the weekend. it's nice but it's not anymore stable than my studio stainless np2 so i just admitted that i suck at golf and need help with my putter and ended with a spider

icec0ld I took my blade out for a twilight round today. It reminded me why I keep the Spider in the bag. Still a joy to roll the blade though!

agadawg1717 I've been a blade guy my whole life. Went to a spider this year and has been phenomal. I know I'll eventually go back when I find a lefty np2....but this spider will be a SAFE backup. it's V Good

ckay i did end up with a spider. i started with the chalk but i returned it and got the copper since i liked the contrast more. my thoughts are it's a spider. i've pretty much owned at one point every iteration of the original spider shape. i like it enough to the point where i bought the 6g and 12g weights to it since i usually dew sweep and like to be the first one out when i play. i just wished that TM would make a spider with a 100% milled face. i'm not a fan of inserts but the spider x insert is a little bit more tolerable since it's thicker than the original one. we'll see how long it lasts or if i end up with a backup.

icec0ld Hope it works out for you. This is my first go with a putter of this style. Like you mentioned in your post, I’m at the stage where I am considering a back up, just a half inch longer.

This is my thought exactly. I love the Spider but I just can't do inserts.

I have the metal insert on mine. At first I hated it and wished I got the white, softer one but the more I use it the more I prefer it. It does have more of a click, harder feel compared to the retail one.

I believe the black insert is some sort
of metal with silicone-type material dampening between the grooves. At least that is what I’ve gathered when running my fingernails through it.

Some digging around the Internet MySpider are aluminum inserts except for the white one which is 80/20. Retail Spider are 80/20. My guess is 80/20 Aluminum Surlyn mix?

I believe the white insert is the stock insert (80/20 surlyn/alu insert). Everything else is an anodized aluminum (or Titallium as they used to call it) insert.

My putter and the black insert feel the same to me. They both definitely have a click to it when you hit a putt.
