Wedge Shafts

What shafts do most of you play in your wedges? Do you match the rest of your set? I am currently playing Mitsubishi MMT 105s in the irons and Modus Wedge 125s in the 50, 54, 60. I am looking to change the 50 and 54 as I feel like I get too steep with those clubs. I think the weight makes me feel like I pull the club down more. I love it in the 60 so I will probably keep that one

dphatt I’ve tried a plethora.

I typically play KBS, so I don’t necessarily match it, but try to keep it in the family.

Surrently play c taper 125 s+ in irons, and have it matching in my gap wedge, and a 120 S in my 59°. I’ve tried the 610 wedge and I hit that entirely too low.

The DG Tour issue s400 goes way too high. (Currently in my Vokeys).

I’m in the market for some new shafts as well to find that piercing flight but not “too low”.

Maybe a Tour V 125?
MMT might be nice, haven’t done graphite in wedges before.

Have also contemplated tiger stepping a wedge previously for fun.

I made the blind move from wedge flex(!) to x100 tour issue about 3 years ago and BOY was that something. I think I have gotten used to it but I don't know that it's for me. When I got fit for my wedges this time (which was the first time ever,) S-400s were the ones for me. I have the x-100s in my irons.

This is one reason I stay out of the fitting booth. DG for all of my life, went to SPB on the Miura but still DG in the wedges. Keep it simple, remove all doubt, and just stick with what I’ve been playing.

But take that with a grain of salt because I am not a competitive golfer other than the weekend games with friends. My mentality towards fittings may be different if I was into the MGA scene but I’m not that golfer any longer.

What are the odds that this thread would pop up this morning after just tinkering with that idea 2 days ago and looking at different scenarios for my Modus 105 shafts.

X100 in the irons and 50, s400 in the 55 and 60. Stepping down in flex for clubs I use for partial/feel shots. I always recommended that when I was fitting.

Match the irons. Kbs tour in same flex although I'd like to try something lighter as current SW are D9.

S400 Tour Issues in my wedges. Huge difference from the "wedge flex" 💩 shafts and my approaches have improved considerably. For context, I have X100s in my irons.

@dphatt I was just discussing this with @Putterho and some other cats. I made the switch about 3 years ago to run modus 120 shafts in my wedges to match my iron setup. Love the way it feels and I know exactly what I'm getting on every type of swing.

Putterho with all my stuff being Kbs, I get the same pitching wedge shaft for all my wedges and they are just cut to length

my builder only uses tungsten powder, not tip weights.

i switched to x100s in all my wedges 51 55 59, to match my irons. The flight never balloons anymore, works very well for me.

I'm modus 120 in irons, which weigh 114g. So I went modus 115 in my wedges and couldn't be happier. But then again, my gap wedge has a DG 120 in it, which makes no sense, but is that totally out of spec club that just flat out works for me LOL.
