So I’m looking at getting a MacKenzie bag, and I’m hoping to get some input or recommendations. Is there anything you wish you did when ordering your bag, or was something you didn’t think about but Worked out well in the end? Also post some awesome photos and lets see those Mac bags

My other recommendation is to really draw out the colors. Don’t make any quick decisions. It’s an investment, so make sure you’re happy with the colors and embroidery options. Look around for all sorts of examples.

I own at least one version of all three materials - nylon, waxed canvas, leather - the waxed canvas is hands down my favorite of the three. Only other thing I would advocate for is largest too they offer. Even with a limited set (9 clubs), the smaller diameter tops still lead to a little trip tangle.

I just ordered my first one a couple days ago and Nic was great to work with. Took a bit to nail him down and we finalized my design as he sat in an airport at SFO on the way home from a golf trip with the Sugarloaf homies. Top notch service and we did a bunch of different renderings for me which was very very helpful. I went with waxed canvas because like many said, I knew it would eventually lead there so just said f-it I'll get it now. Plus I love the way the grey waxed canvas will patina. Nic actually sent me some small samples of different materials and colors if you wanted me to pass it along to you so you can feel the difference and see how things will patina and age. Just shoot me a note and I can get it in the mail. I also went with an 8 inch 2 pocket model because like @Jaybananapantsarthur says, I had heard bigger is better than smaller. Plus when I golf I usually bring beer/bourbon, water, maybe a jacket if it is twighlight, and tons of balls cause I suck. So I figured the 2 pocket was the way to go. Nic and I joked that if I couldn't fit everything into a 2 pocket I need to reassess what I'm bringing on the course....which is probably true. Enjoy the process and definitely don't rush to any decisions. Nic and team have a great eye and can definitely help you through things!

The d-ring just so everyone knows what I am referring to. I clip speaker and rangefinder via a carabiner to d-ring. The d-ring is stitched on just above the front pocket.

The Tile and yardage book holder might be the forgotten man. Contemplating a Tile for my next, but being I live int he middle of BFNW....no one will have a tile so it might render it useless... lol.

Also the jersey editions they have done are insane. Unfortunately Minnesota Gopher football isn't good enough for the school to make authentic jersey's....so that idea is scrapped. We did beat #4 Penn State, and then Beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl though! Get me a Tyler Johnson or Rodney Smith Jersey! Ski-U-Mah!

I know I am going to get shit for this but someone sell me on the allure of getting a Mac bag. I bought a Jones players bag to test out the style and I hated it because I felt like I had to keep switching shoulders to avoid fatigue. I don’t do the occasional 9 hole half set either so that’s not really an option.

Someone sell me on this please. I always like spending money on golf stuff 😂

The one thing Mackenzie does better than any other "single strap" bag is the strap itself. Seriously. The strap they make is the most comfortable single strap out there. With that being said, I agree with where you are coming from. I don't use mine nearly as much as I would otherwise if it had two straps and a stand. It gets old bending over and picking it up every time you hit a shot and you are trying to carry all your sticks.

dphatt I bought it to walk more. I've had a jones bag (still do), and the Mac is way better. Way more comfy, and way more balanced.

I have a push cart and a normal Ping hoofer...but I just bought my wife clubs and those are going to her. I'm now stuck with the Mac, unless someone can find me a new bag! lol

dphatt Carry it like a quiver of arrows. I’ll single strap on the right shoulder and when I feel like taking a break I just swing it over to the other and carry it like a quiver. Double straps don’t work well IMO based on my Jones and limited time with the Shapland.

dphatt agreed. I thought about picking up a Jones but tried a ping moonlite first to see if I liked the style. Makes me really tired and constantly have to change shoulders.

I highly recommend Mackenzie, on my fourth one. They have a lot of options you can customize. D ring is a must, also they have a range finder pocket option you can add to the bag. Their single strap is 👌👌.

Was just trading notes with Nic to add a D ring on my order (thanks @Jaybananapantsarthur and @DaHOF for the heads up) and apparently those are part of the standard customization now. Might still want to double check when you order but sounds like they received such good feedback on them, they do on every one now.

Anyone know roughly the lead time for these? I'm guessing it all depends on how busy they are but was just curious. I'm thinking 8-12 weeks but that's purely a guess.....

Waxed canvas. I bought one of each (nylon, waxed, and leather) all at once. Now I wish I just had 2 waxed canvas. D ring for sure. I got one bag with a water bottle holder too but it only fits a slim water bottle.
