Well, since this category is called "Hype Talk" I figured I would hype up the new Cleveland wedge coming soon. I haven't played a Cleveland wedge in YEARS, but that may change come this fall. I was lucky enough to see and hit the new Zip Core Wedge that will be releasing in September (from what I was told). These things look great. Supposedly going to be offered in a raw finish as well and has a good surface area for some custom stamping! I apologize to the group as I was an idiot and didn't snap photos while I had the chance. The grooves on these are much more aggressive than prior Cleveland wedges (essentially since the groove change some time ago).

Left Vokey three or so years ago. Went to Miura then Cleveland RTX 3 briefly before the RTX 4. Love the RTX 4 so looking forward to seeing how they make it better.

These are my favorite set of wedges I have gamed. They’re in my other bag with the 33s. I had these built when Cleveland had their Custom Shop open when they had different grind options and finishes available.

I currently game RTX4 raw (but am converting to the SM8). I'm partial to Cleveland, since I grew up in the early 00's gaming them. The new one with Zipcore looks funny, but RTX4 forged?? Damn.

Funny you say this, as my first ever “real” set of wedges were some Cleveland Reg 588s back in high school. When I got to college, I switched to Vokey as that’s what the “players played.” Since then, I’ve fooled around with a handful of Vokeys, including WedgeWorks, Miura, Edel, Ping, and PXG. Haven’t found anything I’ve liked in about 10 years. Being lefty really stinks when it comes to grind and finish options. I’m intrigued by this, as Cleveland is typically good to lefties, offering the same grinds and finishes to righties and lefties. I guess it’s a race to see if Artisan can come out with something before next spring for me or not. Lol

So 54 holes in over three consecutive days and having only received the 52° and 60° wedges.

Both 52° and 60° are mid bounce, 56° went full bounce

52° I really only use for shots that are 115 to 120 yards and the 60° is a specialty wedge for me and primarily used for flops around green. 56° is primary bunker and partial shot wedge.

Pros:

More compact shape
Spin is as expected, maybe a little more grab than RTX4 but I'm not one who pulls the ball back, more drop and stop (noticed this especially with the 60° not rolling out as much on shots from rough around greens)
Satin chrome finish versus bright chrome

Cons:

Don't think I'm a fan of the new TT spinner shafts, they feel soft to me coming from TI S400 or Modus 130x 8i shafts in wedges
Added spin might be costing yards (RTX4 54° was my 110 club and so far struggling to hit 52° zipcore the same yardage)

How's the ability to open the face with the mid bounce option? Does the leading edge get closer to the ground on opening the face?

Feel wise, does the injected neck tech change the feel or do they feel the same as other wedges?

DaHOF almost certainly the 52°. Likely keep in the 60°. 56° is a toss up.

Was reading that the new Spinner is similar to s200 so would be 7g lighter than.the s400. That's pretty significant IMO on full shots with 52°.

Eddie tough to say on the bounce, will have to look for that and get back to you. I don’t open up the 52* but do with the 60. But primary use of 60 is in deeper rough so I haven’t noticed it at all. Will check from tight lie and follow-up.

I hate to offer a non apples to apples comparison because of the difference in shafts but my impressions are that the Zipcore are softer feeling than anything I can remember recently. As someone who plays blades and doesn’t understand when people say thin shots hurt their hands I guess my sense of feel could be questioned 😂.
