I have a 19* ping 425 hybrid....pretty good
I recently went back to a pair of Adams 9031 hybrids. A 16* and a 23*. Both are exceptional.
I have a 4w then a 2 hybrid then 3i. 275/80 - 250 - 225/30 gapping and it seems to work well
aharrelson358 wow! Some righteous distance there. I’d love to be within 30 yards of each of those.
G425 hybrid is actually pretty damn long, I'm pleasantly surprised.
So basically it will be mini driver 13.5 with apex uw 19 for short courses
and then 4 wood with apex uw 21 or g425 19 set to 20.
I think. We will see.
4wood
then jump to 21° 7wood
So I tried a 7 wood, albeit in a non-ideal shaft, but it inspired this idea.
Build a club that would be both a 4 wood to 4 utility iron rapper and 13.5 mini driver to 4 utility iron replacement.
Thinking getting a tsi2 5 wood, cutting it down to 41" (and adding weight to get SW back to normal), and then depending on when I use it, play it at 17.25 when it gaps the mini driver setup, and then jacking up the loft to 19.5 when it gaps the 4 wood. Or get the TSi3 5 wood so I can put the weight in fade when adding loft, and moving to draw when dropping the loft.
It makes sense on paper, but probably will be a complete failure. Stay tuned.
this is why i love the 7w. 220 into a right to left 20 mph wind, played a knockdown draw into this par 5 to 20 feet.
Looked so effortless too, love it.
For me, I did try the crackpot experiment I mentioned two posts above.
Stealth plus 5 wood.
Cut down to 41.5" (essentially apex UW length)
Lofted up to 20 degrees.
Basically a 6 wood, if there ever was one.
And I freaking love it.
Since the plus head is relatively low spin, I can hit some balls that would be long enough for me not to care about having a 4 wood and go mini driver instead, and if I put a cut swing on it, it will spin up and give me a more controllable yardage.
love the feel/sound as well.
