Looking to mess around and maximize driver length. Currently at 45" - is it ok to just extend the 1" and regrip my current shaft, or should I buy a 2nd at the longer length, so it's tipped properly, etc.
seeshawn what is your swing speed?
dbenick3 110-115 when I got fitted last year. I’m X flex GD DI essentially.
seeshawn I wouldn't with your speed
The new stealths are 45.75” stock length 👀. Might be adding to their higher clubhead speed
PureStickGolf as opposed to?
dbenick3 so better to buy a new shaft versus extending current.
seeshawn if you are just going to test for a few days and not a ton of balls. You could get away with it. I mean I guess you can make it firm by epoxying it. If you don't like it cut the end off and leave the butt plugged. It can break the end of the shaft tho. When it comes to higher speeds and graphite I don't like to mess around and this is coming from someone who does some ghetto builds to tinker with things. What shaft is in there right now?
dbenick3 thanks for the info. Current shaft is a custom GD I was fitted for at True Spec. It’s specific to them and I hit it great. I won’t mess with it as I don’t want to spend $450 to replace it. The AD DI is most similar so I may look for one of those and max it out.
Are you looking for more distance off the tee?
Benzo yes - trying to maximize, hadn't ever hit a driver over 45" so was wanting to give it a try.
seeshawn I went to 46" first half of last year. I'm not the best benchmark because my round count is very low but I struggled with face control through impact. When I did find the center I can't say I was longer by a noticeable amount to offset the lack of control. I cut it back down to 45"(as at 44.5" prior to adding shaft length) and went back to finding the center more often.
