So one of my goals this year was to stick with a putter for an extended period of time. Great, grand, glorious and simple in design, but it hasn’t been so. I recently had a SAM fitting and listed below are screens shots from the 2 best putters. I was able to rule out many but still have these 2 remaining. The first being an Odyssey 7cs that I have had for a bit and an Evnroll er2b that was a recent acquisition, everything else I had kicking around has been kicked to curb. The big differences between the 2 finalists are aim and face at impact. I aim the Ody 7cs (cs mallets) the best of anything that was tried but my face is shut at impact. The evnroll was best face squareness at impact, but I aim it slightly worse than the cs mallets. The fitter said either would be a good choice with a slight edge to the cs mallet but lining up the ball could negate some of the aim problems with evnroll. How do I go about choosing between the 2? I thought about matching specs and grips on both and having a shootout, but being in Cleveland Ohio it’s tough to get out and putt in 3ft of snow. Hope someone here might have experience in this and might see an angle I’m not in helping choose between the wands. Thanks I’m advance for any advice.

I'd rather have square face at impact and work on alignment issues with a chalk line etc. ... but that's just me and not based on any science

So here's what I take away from your numbers. With the CS, you are 1.5 open at address and .6 closed at impact. With the Enroll, you are 2.1 open at address and 0 at impact. Which means, that regardless of where you are at setup, your face is 2.1 degrees more closed than it's starting position with BOTH putters, you simply start the EVN roll more open at address. So feasibly, if you were to have the face at square at address and change nothing in your stroke, you would actually be 2.1 degrees closed through impact (all other factors remaining the same). So if I had to pick, I'd definitely go Evnroll, but honestly, if you are having a hard time picking between the two, it probably means you don't leave either enough to make a commitment. Go find another putter that you really want to have and make it work heh heh, your stroke seems more than consistent and good enough to do it. Also, SAM putter fittings have an incredibly high threshold to want to keep users using face balanced putters, not a bias but I think it's due to the nature of wanting less face rotation and the test being done on some pretty short putts.

Eddie I would be curious to see the top sight on both putters. Might find that a certain dot or line has a more consistent setup

dbenick3 the odyssey has about an inch long topline, evnroll has a flange line. I’ve been fit for an edel before and they said I aim no lines the best.

ckay never tried a long neck blade, I had a Newport 2.7 once upon a time that was good which was the double bend blade (face balanced blade) but it was years back

Eddie thanks for the info and feedback. One of the other putters I used was the 5.5 Scotty which I love the look of but was very inconsistent with. I definitely love the look of the murdered out evnroll blade over the cs mallet. Start with evnroll and give it chance is what I will most likely do

Eddie definitely not a bad idea, single bend like the evnroll, mallet footprint might improve the aim. Definitely worth a look

Scotty is coming out with their own version of the 7 this year also. Single bend and the small slant. Cross between the odyssey 7 and sc 5.
