Scotty Cameron Special Select NP2

Thinking about picking up one of the new NP2 and was wondering what the general consensus was on this years release? I am not the biggest Cameron expert, but from what I can see, it looks like the shape is closer to the tour newport 2s again?

As a Newport 2 head junkie, I can give some feedback on this one.

This year's Special select I'm a big fan of, thinner topline, which gets closer to the tour heads.

The heavier weights in the toe and heel over previous years would indicate either a heavier overall headweight or more weight distributed to the edges, either way, it gives a bit of peace of mind.

The only reason I haven't picked one up is because it's longer heel to toe than my gamer putter, and I'm a fan of consistency.

I will say when buying, make sure you get to inspect the actual club in person, because some of the first run of these putters had areas where it's clear that the surface milling/finishing) was not complete, namely on the bumpers.

I was going to suggest the old Studio Stainless Newport 2's from 2004 and then I checked ebay ........ I had no clue they became a $400-750 secondary putter. The tough part is finding the headweight you want and a decent price.

The new Special Select NP II is the best OTR shape I've seen from Cameron in forever, a lot of the 'clunkiness' of the past years is gone. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Old school head modern graphics. Very nice putter IMO. I prefer the Studio Stainless myself but the new Select Special looks great.

I grabbed one of these when they released. I can say it’s significantly better in my mind than the last iteration with the face insert. If you’re on the fence at all I say pull the trigger and you won’t regret it. Then again. Even if you do, you can resell it and get a different NP2 style head

I'll probably check the golf store near me to see if they have one in stock, so I can give it a little waggle. Might bring my TR1966 Anser 2 with me so I can compare the shapes up close.

One of my favorite, my only wish for that putter was that it was a little heavier, I tried to WRX one with tungsten weights and they said no dice, but the shape of that tr1966 model is damn near perfect to my eye.

I've owned many retail Newports over the years and fully concede that this is the best OTR version yet.

Mine was an early one ordered directly from Titleist, but doesn't seem to have the milling issues that others have. It'll forever be in my putter rotation (until I get a TourType 😛)

Inspected the Cameron up close and came away with mixed feelings. The shape is pretty good to my eye and the feel is decent. However, this modern font on the face and the neck is absolutely dreadful imo. Has some counterfeit vibes to it imo. The red headcover is even worse, but that is easily changed.

I am a bit unsure between the two. Will have to go again and roll them again this week.

Golfingfanatic What about... some custom boutique options, like Black Lab Golf / Goodwood / Strokes Gained? Benefits here, you can fully custom it, down to stampings/dots/lines/etc.

I myself have been dabbling with these customs and will write up a post when my Goodwood comes in. I know most of everyone here is a Circle T Scotty connoisseur, but dunno, maybe worth a look.
