Just got my old MP-33s back from Doug Oughton of Oughton’s Golf. I have had these since new and put a lot of rounds on them. They are the only set of irons I’ve kept as I moved on. With stay-at-home orders I figured it was time to update them a bit. Sent them over to have the chrome stripped. I thought I would just get them back stripped and anticipated some handwork with a pad. They came back and all of the finishing work was done, including sandblasting the face. I will be weighing them and getting them back up to snuff in the next week or two. I’ll update throughout but also interested in what you all are working on equipment-wise.

Those look phenomenal. I got a GC2 in early march and was hoping to build a home simulator but when the kids were home learning and school got cancelled then everything golf related stopped.

ckay I am very interested in this for my MP-9s. I have had them since I was younger and they need to be rechromed and regrooved.

Looking really sharp, I say get some old school ProjectX shafts or the Pxi shaft with that brushed satin finish to match the heads, because, well, why not? haha.

DGTI S400s going back in. Thought about some DG Onyx but it is just more money for a set that won’t be played much. This work was $17/head. Well worth it if you have clubs you can’t seem to part ways with.

Eddie I would say 2 weeks. Doug is swamped right now because a WRX thread sent him a large amount of business. $17/head, was not expecting them to come back buffed out and blasted. It’s a bargain to me considering all of the other places I’ve looked at over the years.

Anyone doing any golf-related quarantine projects?

Just did some basic measurements while the baby is asleep. Average weight loss is 6.5g.

Just wrapped up the build. Standard LLL at D2-D2.5 with PW at D5.

Decided to give them one more final buff to smooth out the color as they started changing colors since getting them back. Sealed it with CLP rather than an oil as I use it exclusively for another hobby and it protects carbon steel very well.

Ferrule job is decent, the BB&F were a bit large in OD and I had to turn it down with sandpaper and acetone. Tried my best to keep the taper consistent but at the end of the day nobody will even realize it.

Bringing this thread back from the dead because @maxbianchi is a golf nerd. Time to combo some heads and let Oughton's do some work. I still have your random KBS Black wedge shaft somewhere at the house from your national custom build as well as a couple of the OSU colored ferrules. Your old tour issue DG shafts might be in the yard used for growing tomatoes though.

epyon it’s extra if you want to send the clubs in and have him put them back together. I believe it is a pretty nominal fee too unlike some of the “builders” out there with the nerve to charge $15+ to put a club back together.
