Fun thread. 👍🏼
I hadn't played true tournament golf in close to 15 years. Had more time to play last summer so thought I'd go play with the boys.
Entered our Men's Open. I think I was an 8 at the time. Shot 87 the first day...and LOVED it. Greens were almost twice as fast as I am used to playing. I think I missed at least 6 putts from 3 feet or less...lol. Second day didn't go a whole lot better as it was more of the same and I shot 86...but still had a ton of fun. Definitely got the competitive juices flowing again.
Fast forward a month. Still the same handicap but on a positive trajectory. I had gone thru a swing change a couple months prior that was paying dividends...but it wasn't until someone noticed an issue with my putting grip that things really heated up.
Played our Club Championship off the same number. First day, shot 80...with 4 missed putts inside of 3 feet...including an 8 incher that i swiped at. Oops...lol.
Started Day 2, 3 back in my flight. Shot 77 with very little drama. Ended up winning my flight and finishing 1st Overall Low Net.
Bottom line for me was...have FUN...k.i.s.s....and let the competitive juices flow. There are a lot worse things you could be doing than swinging a golf club in a tourney.😉
