Played the newly renovated Southern Pines Golf Club today.
The greens are still hard and a bit slow from being brand new but it was more than playable. In a year it will be a must-play with the Pinehurst courses, Mid Pines, Pine Needles, and Tobacco Road. I'd even go as far as saying it's worth playing right now.

It is absolutely insane and a bit intimidating, but also very gettable if you're hitting your drives well and controlling your distances. The Bushnell Pro XE was clutch with the "plays as" numbers being spot on (so thanks again @dphatt).
Instead of a cart or walking, I took the Finn scooter so I could appreciate the course. I felt like I was driving the Batpod.
OffTheDole 100% agree about Tobacco Road. One of the most fun courses I've ever played. It could have so easily been gimmicky, but it wasn't at all.
OffTheDole I always tell people the first thing you need to buy at Tobacco Road is a yardage book. If you know where you are going on that course it is extremely getable.

ckay I think the people who dislike Tobacco Road are going in with the wrong attitude and expecting a fair test of golf with predictable bounces.
TR is not fair or predictable. It's an experience. It's a test of your ball striking and resolve. It's also a piece of art that you can play golf on.
Go there to play something wild and unique. Don't go there intending to hang a score on it, though as @Noyes26 said it's very getable.
