Finished the build with a Gripmaster Signature Tour in Tiffany. The original build had the same grip but black. On a side note I like the profile of the grip and ended up putting a black one on the Olson.
With the KBS CT Tour, putter was at D7. With the TPZ, D3.5 so be aware that it has some counterbalance to the shaft.
Rolled about 30 putts on a PuttOut tonight when the grip set. I have a bunch with the KBS that was in it. Here are some early findings. YMMV of course.
With the KBS, it had the thud-like feel you would expect from an SS head but a bit exaggerated as this head is beached. Solid, and in between soft and firm if that makes any sense. It had a lot of feedback, you knew if you hit the putt low on the face because you felt it in the hands immediately.
With the TPZ, you still have that type of feedback but it is definitely muted and virtually undetectable. Overall, the feel is quite softer and feels pretty close to a carbon head on a steelie which I welcome with open arms. Struck a few on the toe and heel purposely and the head remains stable with virtually zero twist in the hands. I could see this in a higher MOI putter having absolutely zero noticeable twist. Ball rolled true as well with these extreme miss hits.
I mentioned this in the Stability thread, but I’ve had four different combos and while that shaft did what BGT markets it to do I just couldn’t get used to the very firm feel of it no matter the head. Best I can explain it is it felt very boardy at impact. Like catching a blade two grooves low kind of feel in the hands.
I had zero intentions of going this route and staying with the KBS CT as I’ve been loving the feel with my Olson on steel but some recent posts mentioned that this feels quite a bit different even though it delivers the tech. I know @dphatt was a long term user of his Stability and when he mentioned the feel was different, I wanted to give it a try.
Still very early in my experience with the shaft but first impressions are delivering when it comes to the feel I want from a putter. I hope to get a round in next week and see how it feels from longer distances as my mat is only 6ft. That way I can speak more to how stiff the shaft actually is.
Big thanks to @dphatt for getting the shaft for me.
