2016 USGA Fourball Qualifier 2020 Maryland State Am Medalist 2020 Middle Atlantic Mid Am-Senior Fourball Champion 2020 Williamsburg Invitational Fourball 2nd Place 2020 Maryland State Fourball T7 2020 Middle Atlantic Pre Senior 2nd Place 2020 Middle Atlantic Am Participant You would think with this resume I would be able to get into the local Fourball event that is the kick start to the year in this area but apparently I was put on a waitlist. I emailed the committee to ask the reason for why I was not included in an event I have played in the past. This was part of their response. “ Over 35 teams out of 60 got in by exemption which included competing in a USGA event in the past 5 years, making the cut in the last tournament or a past winner. The remainder of the field, which included 60+ teams for 25 slots were closely examined by the committee and selected based on merit of resumes.” From their criteria I should have been exempt by my USGA play in 2016. By the way, they have never listed these exemptions in the past and this is news to me and all of the other players who I have talked to. Every person I know that I play tournament golf with is in this event and they are shocked that I am not in it. I have already talked to a few people and I know that favoritism is involved as some people have been given preferential treatment that I cannot disclose. I have also been told by a friend that since I questioned why I was not in this event they are considering moving me off of the alternate list completely which is very petty. I have asked for someone from the committee to call me to discuss this further but I am sure they won’t if that is already their stance. I was going to go “scorched earth” on this but I have decided that it is not worth my time and effort.

Rumor has it they've been in touch with the Dye's Valley committee 🤷♂️ Pretty sheisty from all that you've written. But nothing gained going scorched earth either IMO. Resume speaks for itself but subjectivity rules the day it seems.

dphatt that really speaks volumes about the committee putting on the event. Favoritism and possibly nepotism. Stacking the field with less qualified players in order to boost the odds on their friends/family. Not unheard of. Just disappointing to hear about. I’m sorry bro. I do think you’re right. A Scorched earth policy won’t help the situation. Taking the high road and just ignoring it will do more for your reputation in the long run. Especially when everyone plays, see your not there, then asks you later about it. is there anything else you can go play in that same time frame?

dphatt That is a pretty awesome resume. I knew you were a stick but did not know you were a world beater in competition. Life goes on and you'll play with a chip on your shoulder my friend. Don't let the politics kill your spirit.

dphatt You were right to ask and they were wrong to leave you out. It's frustrating to know that they're holding spots for guys who don't have your resume and if they're petty enough to blackball you for just asking why then they're probably deserving of some scorched Earth. If it's not worth your time and effort as you said I guess just let it go.

Sorry to hear. The board saw that I went from a 21.2 to a 19.9 over the weekend so they threw me in the field instead. Hope you can understand.

I have given them almost 3 days now and no response or call from them. Many of my friends have told me to avoid going ballistic and take the higher road. I will be writing them back tonight since I would rather have my money back than be on a “waitlist.” The letter will depend on my mood later this evening
