I setup the top third of my bag around having two solid off the tee choices, a driver and the mini driver on shorter holes requiring precision (5 out of the 14 non par5s). Then a 20 degree hybrid that I could stretch to 225 - 230 carry.
But at 7700, I don’t need the mini driver, because the choke points on the holes where I needed pinpoint accuracy are not as relevant.
at 7700, I have four par4s that play 500+, not accounting for wind that loves to be into the wind.
Also have par 3s that’s are 225 uphill, 235 on the river coast, a tame one at 200, and then a fucked up one at 250 uphill.
So I need to leave the mini driver at home (which I’ve spent a ton of time getting comfortable with), and probably go 17 and 20 degree hybrids. The 17 is nearly as long as a normal 3 wood but at a much shorter club length will probably get a lot of use. Or go tsi2 15.
Then there’s driver. 10 degree head was pretty reliable but mostly because it was carrying more spin than “optimal”. Go switch to a 9 degree head to squeeze out more yardage off the tees?
Either way I don’t think I’ll need to pull a short club out of the bag, if I did it would be either sw or pw. Both sit next to my gap wedge, that I can throttle down or deport to the end of the earth. While dropping sw was first instinct, the fact that I’ll probably have plenty of chips from awkward 3rd shot yardages, pw I can live without.
in theory, one would hit fewer gir on a 7700 yd track than a 7200 one. So need to account for more shorter putts to save par, actually I’m not messing with putter selection.
oh and 18 is 265 forced carry over water off the tee. Fuck.
