Hey guys... did a woods fitting at TrueSpec my dad got me for Christmas. Appears the shaft I was fit into is something GD makes for them, looking for the closest alternative if possible, as they hit me back with a $900 price tag. Sim 2 Max in 12 Degree, Graphite Design Tour AD TSG Blue 75X - Any help is appreciated, first time doing a true fitting.

seeshawn I have no clue what the specs are on the TrueSpec GD shaft. I have heard of it but I would need to see what profile it is to recommend something for you.

Found this as well - TSG blue is closest to the BB model, as well as the XC model.

I was fit into the same shaft. Tested about 7-8 different shafts. This was at the top of the list performance wise, although the ventus black 6x was just as good. During my fitting, I preferred the feel of the TSG AD Blue over the ventus, which is why I went with it. My fitter told me it was a combo between the DI and the DJ. Was fit at the True Spec location at La Costa. Played the 75x for about a year, and then got a ventux black 6x for free, so playing that now, mostly because it's a little lighter and I can keep the swing speed up towards the end of the round with the same tight dispersion.

All three of those shafts are different so it doesn’t really help. I have always been a proponent of getting the exact shaft that you were fit into but TrueSpec using their proprietary GD shaft is a whole different animal. They know you can’t buy it else where so they try and use that shaft. I wouldn’t pay that much for that club, especially with a shaft that really has no value after it leaves that place. My suggestion would be to go into any retail location and buy that head with a stock shaft. See if they can swap a shaft out for you since it will be hard to find a stiffer shaft in a high lofted head like that. Try out the head and stock shaft combo first and then look for a deal on a shaft.

This is not the first time I heard TSG fitting somebody into their prop shaft. Strange.

ckay I will say, I hit 6-7 different shafts, from KBS, to Accra, to Drago, I just happen to have the best results with that one.

seeshawn I was wrong. I have a IZ6x with a Callaway tip. I do have a GP6x and KBS 60 Cat4 with TM tips. Playing length is at 44.75. DM me if interested.

The retail cost of the proprietary true spec GD shaft was the same as other GD shafts, so if that was the shaft I was fit into, I was going to get it. I can see that it might seem fishy that I was fit into their proprietary shaft just so they can make the sale, but I tested 7-8 shafts, and saw the results for myself on the screen. If it wasn't the best shaft that fit my swing at that time, then I wouldn't have bought it. Maybe there's a chance he played with the trackman settings between shafts, but I would doubt it. My fitting was outdoors on the range with trackman. I specifically go to this location because it is done on the range so I can see ball flight. Proprietary shaft or not, it was hard to argue with the results I saw during my fitting at that time, and what I was looking for from the fitting. Just my humble 2cents opinion...

Hi @seeshawn - I am a huge TrueSpec fan and I have actually talked to their head fitter about this specific shaft. I challenged him one day by asking, "How can you be brand agnostic if you have a shaft colab with a company?!" His response was that they saw a spot missing in the market and were able to create something to fit it. He also told me that it is one of their cheapest shafts, I thought it was roughly around $250?

You could always just buy the shaft from them and then buy the head elsewhere. That is what I did when I was fit into the Ventus Blue.

kmac03 thanks for the info. I am thinking of doing just that. I bought the head and an AD Di X shaft that I like, but would love to compare the two.
