To me the best walking bag is the Sun Mountain 2.5. It is one of the lightest bags in the market and it has enough pockets for the things that you really need.

Before I broke both ankles this winter, story for another thread and time, I was using a Jones original to walk and loved it. Was really not the minimalistic design and features as I don’t carry too much stuff when I’m out. Was worried about no stand, and can definitely see how that would bother people, but I was used to it after a few holes. Will be using my stitch sl1 to start this year when we are finally allowed back out to enjoy our game!!

@HungoverGoose13 Did your strap break in at all? When I had the SL1, the strap was so stiff I gave up on it.

Agree on the 2.5+. Aesthetically could be much better, but in terms of weight, comfort and storage, I haven't found a bag that beats it. I'm extremely intrigued by the Titleist linkmaster caddy bag, but worry the lack of pockets will suck.

Gleasonb the Sun Mountain just doesn’t have the looks but it is very useful. The Linksmaster is a great looking bag but the weight is almost double that of the Sun Mountain

Currently have a ballistic Nylon Mackenzie...but have a couple EP bags (yes they are now making bags besides just headcovers) in the works. Going to be awesome. Will post pics when it arrives. The balance of this Mac is terrific and has surprisingly good storage capacity.

I have a players 4 carbon on the way, excited to use it for walking days. My G Fore Daytona bag is absolute shit for walking, heavier than it looks, but at least the single strap is comfortable.

I am a huge fan of my Mackenzie for a single strap walking bag (by far the most comfortable strap I've tried). As for a "full" stand bag, I've been liking my TBC Hoofer bag. Also, my Players 4 Staydry was money while up in Bandon, but I don't use it otherwise. Intrigued by the Sun Mountain 2.5 though after reading some of the replies in here.

I know there was a release the middle of last year and there seems to have been another release this year. The newer release looks to be called the SL2 "colorblock". If you find any other info, definitely pass it along. I got the white/grey colorway. We'll see how it goes.

If you can find the old Callaway HL1 Sunday bag, you are in for a treat. Not the most stylish, but nothing to gaudy and very functional. Love the little kick stand, has multiple full size pockets and very lightweight. Callaway stopped producing these for the US, but available in Europe (and probably eBay).

Shapland is pretty tempting at the moment. I like my Jones but a 4 way top is a great feature. Throw in the fact that it is a canvas bag and has some more features. It is encroaching ballistic nylon Mac territory as far as costs go but definitely has more useful features.

Follow up on the SL2, I found it to be much the same as the SL1 and not the big improvement I was looking for. The straps are still no where near the comfort of a Ping or Titleist. While there are "larger" pockets, I did not find that it offered much of an increase in carrying capacity. It is still one of the best looking bags in the market, but it just doesn't it the mark for me.

Took the Jones carry out for a round at Sharp Park (the most beloved poor condition muni in the Bay Area). I did only carry 9 clubs, but it worked out wonderfully. Very light. It was a bit cumbersome at times, since no stand, but otherwise, worth it.

I was at Kinloch last week and the caddies were swapping out any larger heavier bags for an SL1 or the Titleist players 4. So they must like them just fine. I've had both the SL1 and SL2 and the compromises just aren't worth it for me over a Ping or Titleist.

Anyone have experience with the Vessel Lite Stand bag? That's the only other bag I'm looking at, but haven't been able to find one to check out in person.

Pulled the trigger on a Shapland. Ditched the Jones which was an affordable way to decide on whether I like this type of bag. I wanted to try the Shapland to make it my full time bag based on the 4 way top, more pockets, and canvas material based on my tendency to play early rounds.

As much as I wanted to upgrade to a Mac I think the lack of a divisive top and essentially two pockets would limit me. Not that I carry a bunch of stuff but I like keeping my balls, tees, and other things separate.

Got my Shapland a day after ordering. I got the navy bag. Fits 14 clubs without any issues. I’m a standard sized grip player with a standard pistol grip on the putter. Top divider is a little right with a driver, 3 wood, 2 iron, and a blade putter. Those that play a mallet will find it too tight.

This is everything I wanted in a carry bag. The materials are excellent. The rainhood is canvas as well in the matching color.

I’ll be taking it out next weekend and will update my post but first impression is I really like it. Going to load up my stuff tonight after the baby goes down.

Great question, and to piggy back on this, how much of a minimalist take do Mac bag users go on? I'm not going to lie, I bring 5 balls to the course every time I play, because I know I'm going to flare a couple shots into the shit.
