I just went on a massive blade buying spree and I had an awesome weekend with my SpiderX. After looking at the leaderboard from last week only 2 blades were used in the top 12. One of those being Bryson which shouldn’t count. So why should anyone be using a blade?

Took me about 2 years to wake up and smell the coffee and give up on a blade style putter. But I think it was me and not the putter. Just lost confidence and feel with a blade and was tired of three putting.

Because it looks good in the bag 🤣

Better feel and feedback for me personally I’ve also never found a mallet I could stand to look down at..

I've gone back and forth between mallet and blade for a few years now. The biggest downside to mallets for is that they are often plastered with alignment aids that make me second guess my start line. The OG Day/DJ spider was the main exception and the mallet putter I've liked the best in the last 5-10 years. With a blade putter I think my stroke gets a little tentative. Mainly from a lack of confidence after missing another 6 footer on the amateur side 😂. This year, I am giving a smaller mallet without sightlines a go.

I was a mallet guy after I swore off blades for years. Got fitted for a blade and it was excellent the only 9 holes I played with it. Has to be the fitting and the confidence in the putter fit to me.

Some days I feel like a putter strokes better, and others a mallet. I sold my Spider back in November but the buyer wanted a return so I happily completed that and now I have both again.

I was a blade guy until I got the yips and went to a mallet putter with the pencil grip. For some reason, using a blade with a claw or pencil grip just doesn’t feel right to me. Since I went to the claw/pencil I’ve had an Odyssey White Hot Pro #7, a Scotty Cameron X7M and a Sik Flo. I love the Sik, but should’ve never sold the Scotty. I had it murdered out. It was beautiful. Played a spur of the moment round in December with some buddies. One buddy, who is a total hack, beat me on the front. I came back to win the back and the total but I was so pissed that I went home and put my driver and putter on eBay......because, ya know, it was their fault.

I’ve got a Newport mainly because I liked the look of it. I guess I’ve just gotten use to it now that I’ve had it for 8 years.

Inside of 8 feet, the mallet sometimes seems to give me a slightly better chance than my blade. However, anything outside of that range, I lose all feel with it and despise it. I do a mallet experiment about once a year and I always end up back with my blade.

I go back and forth depending on what’s hot. I much prefer a blade. Looks and feels more natural.

I prefer looking down at the blade, but can't argue with the amount of putts made with the spider x. Finally added a myspider x murdered out and naked with the aluminum insert. For me, a much better insert since I can hear the ball coming off the face, much more so over the white insert. The spider x is just so stable for me, even with an arc-ing stroke, much more so than any of my blades. Plus I like how I can just stick the magnetic mallet headcover to any of my irons when putting too. lol

I played most of my youth days with an odyssey #9 until I realized I didn't have such a huge rotation through my stroke. Tried out mallets recently and while I do like how the ball pops off the SpiderX, blades just look cleaner at address.
