Alright, its winter and its cold even in Florida today. I searched some of the threads regarding indoor putting greens or mats and I figured we needed to lump them all into one. In the past I have bad a Birdie Ball green and currently a Perfect Putting setup. I have been anxiously waiting to try the grey camry carpet and build something when time would allow. Show me some ideas or experiences you have had with home putting green setups.

Birdie Ball Putting Green: I bought one when the had a 25% coupon code and ordered a 4 foot wide X 10 foot long green with 2 and 3 holes on each side running fast (one under their tour speed). Pros: Great to put at multiple cups and have the feel of a larger surface as well as differentiated speeds when putting on opposite ends. Rolls up fairly easy when not in use but takes up a ton of space to store rolled up. Cheap in price for the size. The sell a liquid to fix holes but I let mine get too rough. Cons: Kids, pets, and high heels will thrash this thing within time. You know your home so place accordingly. It was fun but not one that lasted me more than a year or so. Grade: 7 out of 10. Great for rolling longer putts and allows you to be on a level putting surface. The Perfect Putting: Sub $200, works the most important thing which is making putts you shouldn't miss, and is a pretty nice system that would be better for the office than an actual home putting green. Pros: You never really have to bend over so saving your back is a plus. I did get better with my basic straight 4-6-8 foot putts. Minimal on space used. Cons: My wooden ball return track magnets weren't place correctly during manufacture so balls don't roll back as smoothly as they should. The carpet had a huge crease in it and it took 3 months and ironing it down to somewhat flatten but it was never really right. It doesn't affect the putt but makes it look cheap. Also the back stop wooden plate broke when I was moving it and forgot that it wasn't attached when it fell out. A side note: On the OG box there was a white Scotty blade that made me cringe. 8 out of 10 but could easily be a 9-9.5 if a few aesthetic and manufacturing specifics were fixed. It gets the job done and you will feel confident with a 6 footer to save par. I can get over the small stuff to have those vibes.

I have a PuttOut mat and a Pressure Putt trainer. I use a Triple Track ball or a PIX ball to see how the ball is actually rolling. I don't use the Pressure Putt much and only use the mat. The only thing I work on is making a good stroke that gets the ball rolling end-over-end. It unrolls nice and flat so it's great to be able to put it away when I am done.

Which of these mats gives me a putt at 11-12 stimp? I feel like most mats are closer to 10

I know Tyler dabbled with the grey camry carpet but it really made my ears perk when I saw that those guys starting working with a bumper/border company to perfect their craft. If its good enough for Ben Crane, Bubba, Crenshaw, and others then I have to look into it more. Wife won't let me build something that is an eyesore.

I was looking into getting one of these for my basement. $749 from PuttKing. Haven’t pulled the trigger because I’m debating on building one myself as well.

If I could get a piece of camry green carpet that was one huge piece and not cut into sections I'd be more inclined to go down that road.

Once I am in a permanent living situation, I will look into building my own. I figure I could always add to it later on such as a chipping mat. That way I can practice blading my chips into anything that is remotely fragile.

I have a Big Moss. I custom ordered the size through one of the managers on one of the Facebook pages. It’s only about 6 feet long maybe 4 feet wide. That’s all that really made sense for my in my office.

It’s nice to get up while on the phone in meetings and hit some putts. I did 3 cup sizes which I kind of wish I didn’t do. The speed is okay, prob around 10-11. The backstop is just foam. I do like that you can stand on it and it doesn’t effect anything. I would kind of think it would be even better and maybe a little faster on hardwood or tile then on my carpet.

It’s a tough road to go down. Years ago I had the idea to build one in my garage. I can honestly tell you the platform is still the only thing built and every week I consider ripping it apart and saying goodbye.

I’d give the Big Moss 8/10 for what it is. I do think it would be more fun if it was 3x as long. And at least twice as wide.

I’ve got a Birdieball my wife got me a few years ago for Father’s Day. I don’t really have a good place to keep it. I had it rolled up for a little while and mine seems to take a long time to lay flat. Even now it doesn’t seem to roll straight anymore. I have been trying to use the small hole for the 3 footers on a regular basis tho.

philipjunior same experience with my PuttOut, it starts to groove and you'll see the ball track accordingly. That's why at this point I'm more focused about watching how the ball rolls off of the face at this point.

I picked up a Pro Putt System 3'x9' off GolfWRX for a steal and it is phenomenal. Rolls 11-12, and is really high quality. It doesn't allow practice to read putts, but I don't think that's what an indoor mat is for. It feels extremely durable, and the putting surface is much higher quality than Birdie Ball, and even Big Moss. I try to make 50 putts in a row with a alignment mirror each night, and i've already seen a drop in putts per round.

I have the puttout pressure trainer I keep at the office with a putter for those long conference calls. But at home I’ve been looking for something since I never go into the office anymore and I can’t just be rolling a ball on hardwood all day.

I had a birdieball mat but it didn't last me long - I really enjoyed using it for the first 6 months or so but the mat started falling apart right around the 1 year mark. Biggest con was that you couldn't run a vacuum over it to clean, and I actually ended up throwing it out.

My set up now consists of a Wellputt mat, an Exputt simulator, and a PuttOut trainer. Easy to use, easy to clean, and while the PuttOut trainer can get frustrating to use, it's been keeping me entertained so far!

The Exputt is actually pretty neat! It shows a lot of data points - similar to my Blast sensor - but more in-depth and on a TV screen.

I love the idea of practicing my lag putts with it and seeing my stroke actually pan out way down the line on the big screen - I don't have a ton of space in my basement so this has been my one saving grace for practicing them Lo0oOooong puttZ

I've become pretty automatic with 10 footers on the sim, and I've found myself more confident over these putts out on the course.

Is it worth the $400 price tag? IMHO - Yes. I get to practice my putting indoors and it has kept my stroke more consistent out on the course.

Plus, I can play games with my family and friends that don't know a single thing about golf!
