Very interesting. Titleist made spinny drivers before and it appears they did again (and that's not great).

Man, that 975D story tugs at my heart strings. I wanted one so bad, a 975D with an EI-70. I was 14-15 at the time and demo'd it constantly at the local range and would take it out for the weekends as the pro there and I had a good relationship. Unfortunately, my parents weren't into buying me new golf gear and my bag was a hodgepodge of various hand downs from my cousin or dad.

It wasn't until several years later when I owned one for a little bit to scratch that childhood itch, but moved away from it. into an R5 TP Still, a lot of memories with that driver as I hit it very well but wasn't able to bag. Imagine what my Jr. golf career would've looked like with some better MGA finishes. Or not.

Great writeup. The TSi3 looks awesome. Initial feedback from all of the reviews I have seen is that there isn't much to gain.

ckay Our stories are nearly the same... I lusted after the 975D, and then the J. I never got one then (got one like 10 years later for nostalgia), but I did get a R540XD and bombed that.

Titleist woods will always have a spot for me, having recently played the TS3 for a year+. I look forward to at least trying the TSI lineup.

970 fairway woods were another one of those cult classics. Tiger effect in full force. I remember those going for close to 1k.

I wish I could say I'm shocked by the results...but I'm not. I wish Titleist would finally come out with something that blows the competition out of the water so I could go back to a more "traditional" driver. Oh well.

I applaud Don for being bold enough to say the TSi line is not a world beater. I have to admit I was very intrigued by the hype as well, but I will go into my phase of testing the TSi line with much less hope for a world beater.

I find the results here interesting. I hit the TSi3 over the weekend and found better numbers for me than my current Sim Max. Clubhead speed and ball speed both increased and spin went down (I struggle with too much spin).

Obviously I ordered it and I'm looking forward to it arriving.

We'll see what happens in the real world and on a golf course, but I thought this was much hotter than the past several Titleist offerings.

And I'm not a Titleist fanboi.

jshel can you tell me more about what specs you had in your Sim Max and what you were fit into with the TSi3? I am not surprised your spin numbers went down going from a Sim Max head to a TSi3. I am a low spin player and I even spun the Sim Max too much.

I have a 9 degree Sim Max with the upgraded Ventus Blue 6.

My TSi3 is going to be 8 degrees and with the Tensei AV Raw White.

We'll see how it goes. If it works, great. If not, there will always be another driver option out there.

Sounds like I’ll probably end up keeping my TS3 in the bag for the time being. Looking forward to Eddie testing out the TSi4 though!

We had our demo day last week and I had almost identical results to Don. TSI3 couldn’t not stay in the air. Now I deliver way to much shaft lean at impact and always struggle to keep the ball in the air. I hit the 11* TSI3 the rep said that is a custom order and it still just dove. The TSI2 not being able to move the weight around like my G410+ is a killer and don’t think I’ll be switching until that G425 comes out!

So I’ve spent some time with the TSi3 and I have to say...

it’s pretty good for me.

First 15 shots or so were ok, actually decently carrying given how low on the face I was hitting it. I am so used to teeing the ball down really low with the shallow face height of the SIM.

Once I started to get the tee height up, the thing came alive.

I have it setup weight neutral, d4 (+.75) setting because I don’t like a super open face at address, I actually like to see a little loft, 9 degree with tensei about raw white.

It’s definitely less fade biased than the SIM is.

I think dons review is still accurate, and one of the things we’ve been talking about is I think how this driver really changes based on AoA. Don is very + where I’m much closer to -1 to +1.

I am using a stock shaft, to be honest I’ve always hit stock shafts well, which may explain why I am hitting it plenty high.

Im going to play it for the rest of the year until the 2021 TM line comes out, I really enjoy the feel of it.

whether by hot melt or some polyfill, I’m going to try to recreate that r510tp feel, which frankly isn’t possible with carbon head drivers.
