I spent an hour today testing the G425 today since I had to build a shaft for a friend. These were the specs that I built and tested.
G425 Max
9 degree
14g back weight (stock is 26g)
Ventus Blue Velocore 6s
45.75
MCC Plus 4 Undersize
D0.8
I went into this without a warm up. My first swings produced very good launch and spin numbers. The first thing I noticed was that the club didn’t feel long. I think it had to do with the head looking so large. The more I got warmed up I felt the shaft being a little loose for my liking. My initial test with this club was with the X stiff at 45.25 and it wasn’t a good fit for me. I think I need to be in a tipped stiff. What did surprise me was how consistent the launch and spin numbers were no matter which direction I was hitting it. The first few shots sounded terrible but it kinda grew on me after I moved the weight to the heel. This is definitely going to be a contender for me once I get my head in.
I did grab the LST head to test and to my surprise I was getting higher spin numbers. The launch was still the same but the spin was a couple 100 rpms higher. The sound was definitely better but the spin and direction was just a little too sporadic for my liking.
I am really excited for this driver and it’s going to be fun finding which shaft will go into this head. Will the Epic Flash TD finally lose its place in the bag?
