Anyone have one of these shafts in their driving/utility irons? If so, thoughts? Thinking about getting one to put in my 712U 3 iron and for only $75, I’m ready to pull the trigger.
Which MMT shaft? There are several variants, weight class is a good start in terms of figuring out which of the shafts there are, the light ones play pretty soft, the higher weights definitely play differently.
MMT Utility Iron 105 Stiff. Says it’s 106g.

I have a 105 UT TX in a U500 3 iron that I’ve been playing for about a month. I was concerned that it wasn’t going to be stout enough after the first few swings, but so far it has been really good. Feel is different than any other “hybrid” shaft I’ve played in a driving iron.
KentonQ yup exactly it’s not a hybrid shaft profile it’s an iron shaft.
I have one in a Callaway X Forged UT. Really good club but would be willing to part for cash or trade.

ForeLeft similar numbers for me but with a way better feel. The KBS is a board and feels dead to me. Gotta really bring it with the KBS.

Having played the MMT 105s in the irons I can tell you these run heavier than most 105 shafts. Abraham Ancer is playing the 105TX and Koepka is playing the 105TX in his utility iron. I can’t imagine anyone hitting a 125TX.
dphatt 😂😂 good thing I’m neither of those guys bro! I’ve been looking at driving iron shafts though. The 125tx gets my pants tight but, will probably grab a VA Rajin joint. Tings is nice! And 85g I think 😂😂

Have the MMT UT 105TX in my U500 3i and it’s awesome. I’ve always struggled finding a driving iron/hybrid shaft because they all feel super loose to me. This one is super stable and built in an iron profile. So much that it’s really just a long iron version of the MMT iron shaft and taper tip. It plays and builds Freq wise quite stiff in the 105TX Part. Performance wise it hits nice mid to low bullets for me. Build wise it’s very tip heavy due to the steel mesh so it could be tricky to go over length in the utilities that were designed for graphite hybrid shafts. Better in something weighted for steel. It’s about .75 swingweight higher than DGX100.
MatthewASim would the utility work in a hybrid shaft? Looking to swap out this winter and this may be the one as I’m going to go MMT 105tx in mizuno SEL
Yeah it could work but you would have to shim it as it’s taper tip. Also the raw length is 40” not 42” so you may not be able to go super long. Nice thing is you don’t need to tip it any because it’s much stiffer than a normal hybrid profile shaft.
