I was fortunate to get out this morning at 8am and figured it would be nice to show how ridiculous my bag may be 😆
I'm a 18-20 and have been playing a half set for a few reasons- I'm lazy and since Covid I didn't want to have a heavy bag, and I wanted less options to make quicker decisions on club selection. With that, I've been able to have fun choking down on a club if I needed less distance or give myself permission so swing out of my shoes if I need to. I've also realized I have been having way too much fun with this setup!
Driver- 8.5 Taylormade 580XD with a UST Proforce stiff shaft. Found it at Goodwill. No idea why I wanted to hit a 8.5 driver, but the shaft brings back memories. Yardage- anywhere from 74yds to 310 (minus 50yds).
5wood- Orlimar Trimetal 18.5+ with what I thought was a Harrison stiff shaft, but it's not. Goodwill find again. This has been my go-to from 215-235. Even today I hit a 170 low punch out of the woods and somehow managed to get on the green. I probably could benefit more from newer tech, but this will be a keeper for now.
5,7,9- Tommy Armour Silver Scot forged blades. Picked up a set back in '07 off the interwebz for $99 "just because". I'm a glutton for punishment I guess, but when I hit that sweet spot after a million other shots- my goodness.
56- Cleveland RTX 3. Dicks Sporting Goods clearance pickup for $47.96 last year. Always have been a fan of Cleveland. I'm sure I'm due for something new.
Putter- SC Teryllium Two Santa Fe. Found this for an absolute stupid steal at a PIAS. Obviously the condition was not pristine, but it brought back memories when I would see my country club friends all rocking SCs and I had a random hand-me-down/no-name/garage sale find.
Driver HC- Muni Kids Dia De Los Muertos
5wood HC- Seamus Hiwahiwa x Harbor Town (picked this up last year when wife and I were celebrating our 1 year anni. Couldn't play the course, so got a hc instead lol)
Putter hc- some random SC headcover given to me by one of the club techs at PGASS when i wanted to a regular SC grip on the putter. Some people are excited when they see and say "OOOOOOO WATCHA GOT WATCHA GOT" then the Santa Fe comes out- they start scratching heads!
Bag- Stitch SL1. PGASS pickup for maaaaaybe more than 50% off? They had these on the random clearance and said fuck it. Replaced the strap with a navy Jones single.
I have wood tees of random, currently play some old TP5/TP5 Pix, and two special ballmarkers: a half dollar that I received as change at a random bar in Savannah, and a Seamus from Savannah Quarters. A client took me out for a round and got it custom stamped with my daughter's initials a month before she was born.
I know I don't have premo stuff and I may not have the smooth, silky Fowler swing and follow through, but I hope that this WITB shows that some of the things in there are meaningful and I like to have fun enjoying this sport.
If there ever will be some sort of TeesAndCoins tourney, I pray for those that I may match up with. I guess that's what handicaps are for!
