It's pouring here, and I keep thinking about I wouldn't be surprised if the events I'm going to be playing in will be in terrible weather. Up to now, I've always done the uphill climb. Have a couple of gloves, and try like a psycho to keep everything dry. This always falls apart after 6 holes and then I'm fucked. So I'm going to try rain gloves. So when you use rain gloves, let me get this straight. 1) Gloves, you are supposed to get the rain gloves wet, like really wet, or just slightly damp? 2) Grips, do you have to stop trying to keep them dry as well? Let them be wet or still try to keep them dry?

Great question. I have a pair of the TM ones. Haven’t had to use them yet.

I only wear the rain glove on my normal hand. I do not wear both. DO NOT get them wet. Treat it like a normal glove. It just has different material to prevent moisture. It's moisture resistant, not water PROOF. Try to keep them as dry as possible, I always de-glove after I hit, and put in my rain jacket pocket.

Eddie the gloves gotta be wet to work (counterintuitive, I know). As soon as you start going, they will be fine. If the rain stops, they will eventually stop being effective and you'll need to switch back to your regular glove. Regardless, if you are legit playing in the rain, the gloves are imperative. Enjoy!

Same as HOF, my first experience was at Bandon (can't remember what brand they were). The guys says make sure they're wet when you use them... Okay idiot... but hat is 100% true.

djaveragejoe Agree with J and J here. I have FJs and never used them until I played in a shitshow of a round on Xmas eve 1 year. I pulled them out they were bone dry and for the first hole, I almost lost my fucking club out of my hand on my drive lol. I was thinking....good thing I got these joints for free cause they don't work. I kept them on cause my hands were frozen and they got soaked on that first swing. Next swing (probably in the shit after spraying a driver) I pick up the club and no shit....the grip felt better than it did on a normal golf day with a standard glove. I have Lamkin corded for reference. I actually wiped my grips off before I swung which might be different than most but my gloves were wet the entire round and I never had an issue with them, I can't remember but I may have rung them out once or twice but they were always damp. Don't have experience with any other brands but the FJs are great. The material is more like a high end absorbent towel....almost like a microfiber terry suede joint. Keep 'em wet!

Just to follow up on my use of rain gloves. I've played in hot down pours (Hawaii, Caribbean, Bahamas, California), cold AF down pours (Bandon, Kansas, Colorado, Nebraska) and everything in between. Like @Moni_SLO said, if they are bone stock dry, good luck holding onto that club (seriously, put those gloves on and go outside with your club right now and take a swing and see how that turns out for you). You may need to wring them out from time to time, otherwise they should definitely be damp (if you are playing in actual rain, not just some misting/sprinkling it won't matter, your gloves and everything in between will be wet). Also, while gloves are a must, make sure you buy the RIGHT rain gear (ask @pepsijunky what happens when you get cheap rain gear 😅 ).

So I spent an hour on the range last night with rain gloves and a bottle of water (yes people looked at me like I was crazy)

I 100% concur with the fact that they have to be wet.

The wetter I got the grips, the less traction I did feel.

So far, my plan will be let the gloves be damp but still try to keep the grips dry.
