Pro Tips for shipping a club

Anybody have any suggestions or hacks for shipping a single club at a decent rate? Where to find a box, FedEx was like over $60 today..not too pleased about it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I continue to weave my own cardboard box typing this

StetsonMinerals I typically have boxes left over from clubs I bought otherwise it doesn't hurt to ask big box stores around. If you are selling anything on eBay it is best to print labels directly off there because it can save you a significant amount. I would check UPS and USPS as for me they have the best options for price on golf club shipping. Fedex is always extremely high for me.

Any golf store would be willing to provide you with boxes. I will usually grab a box of balls or something that will be put to use to give the store some business in order to offset the service of free boxes.

I almost always ship USPS Priority for speed and have had a perfect record until last week. You should consider insuring for the full amount. I sold a T22 and an empty box was delivered. So now I am out the putter and $700. I have never insured a package regardless of value up to $10k GSS without any issue but that streak ended. Still ahead with the forgone insurance premiums and my lost putter in which I am only getting $100 back once approved.

Putterho No worries it was bound to happen at some point. Chalk it up as a loss and a lesson learned in insuring your items.

ckay Damn. Eye opening. I feel lucky in that I have shipped stuff successfully until now, but in the back of my mind, I always worry.

Will definitely be insuring shit going forth. Especially if it's worth a damn.

Careful with size of box, try to get as close to exact size as needed. The larger the box the more expensive (i.e. dont ship a wedge in a box long enough for a driver). Like CKay, I normally use USPS Priority BUT for anything over $100 I always insure for full value with direct signature required. No BS that way.

USPS Priority Triangle Tube boxes are my go-to for single club shipping [Free at USPS if you ask someone behind the counter or if they have them out in the main floor area]. I bubble wrap the grip and head. Scary stories here with not getting insurance - I have always passed on it, but may consider if my next shipping excursion has a pricey item in it...

Oh, and you can order free boxes for priority mail from USPS and they'll bring them to your house with regular mail. Qty of 25 is minimum if it remember correctly but they're free.

sometimes FedEx has their branded Express triangle boxes. They are free (just make some shit up that you have some marketing material that you need to ship to 3-4 locations if they pitch a fit). They are flat and I fold it up inside-out so it's plain brown on the outside.

Also, use PirateShip. You get a slight discount on shipping most of the time.

For example, I recently sent a putter in my "fedex" box, USPS priority for $7.65 to KY.

ForeLeft they used to have 44" tube as well but don't see it offered anymore. The old hack was to take two of the 38" and cut one to 8" length and trim .5" from from width (do this before folding into triangle) and then fit this inside the 38" original to make a longer overall tube. Packing tape around the seam and off you go with a 44" tube.
