I’ve mentioned it in other threads but I began this journey on 1/1/20. I’m 5’10” and had ballooned up to hovering between 200-205lbs. Law school really did a number on my fitness and then I just never really got back into it fully. I had some health issues the last couple years but the thing that finally did it was getting on an indoor simulator with video and seeing that I looked like I had a tire around my waist through my shirt.
Since then, I’ve stopped drinking as much, still eat whatever I want but in smaller portions, and run 4-5 days a week. I live in the Texas hill country so my runs involve a lot of hills. I also do 200 sit-ups and 200 pushups every day, spread out through the day.
I’m now hovering between 172-175 and my goal is to get to 170 (hell maybe 165 at this rate). It’s brought my blood pressure down and I look better in the mirror. So I’m seeing both physical and mental health benefits.
My wife is obviously happy but I’ll echo what was said above, you’ve gotta do it for yourself. My goal originally was just to be healthier with no real goal weight in mind but as I started losing the weight and looking better, it’s evolved into a whole thing and I couldn’t be happier. Added bonus is now I have an excuse to buy all new clothes as I’ve gone from buying 34-36 waist shorts/pants to 30-32 depending on brand. I also just bought a size small Nike polo which literally blew my mind.
