I thought that was an improvement of lie, but you guys corrected me saying grass is grass through the hole.
Well, at the Mid Atlantic Fourball that we played in, the situation came up, and all the rules officials said that that was not the case. What's funny is this asking for a clarification led to a massive debate by all the Marshalls and officials.
Can you guys point me to where in the USGA rulebook it says that it is allowed?

i always thought if your ball were in the rough for example, and you took relief, the resulting lie can not be an improvement. guess I was mistaken.
