I am looking for a 3 wood to use primarily off the tee when a driver is too much. It needs to be a large head and somewhat shallow face. It also doesn’t need to be left biased or closed. What 3 wood do I need to go test?
huntingchris0000 g410 or SIM would get my vote. The SIM is almost as long as my driver off the tee which is kinda scary
dphatt thanks. I will try the Sim. I have a G400 3 wood just want something new to try
Finding a good 3 wood has become very difficult imo. Both the jailbreak Callaway heads and the titanium TM heads go way too far and are not really predictable imo. Sometimes you catch absolute heaters that go forever. If I were you I'd probably look at the Cobra Speedzone non tour head and put the loft in the 16* to 17* range. This takes some of the heat out of it.
I had been gaming an older TM 3 wood for years. Then hit the Ping G410. Talk about stupid easy to hit. It's great both off the tee and the deck (as much as a 3 wood can be off the deck).
Second that for the Ping joint. Scary long.
I bounce around between an SLDR and an M2 Tour. SLDR still a beast today. Great profile.
This is the one they all compete against
Definitely another vote for SIM and maybe even in the 14 degree rocket 3 version off the tee. First impression when I saw the SIM was that it is big, but I’ve quickly embraced how good it now looks to my eye now.
Sim or Cobra Speedzone.
Still kicking myself for selling the Tour Edge exotics Ex8, as well as the OG epic.
