Can you help with my trackman #’s?

Ok…so winter is here and I wanted my driving to get better…direction wise, driving is a super strong part of my game, but let’s face it, I’ll always take more distance.

I guess what are you looking for in terms of insight?

Hou are hitting it solid. You could be hitting it a lot further (roughly 326 yards, if you were to hit up on the ball at +5º)

There is nothing wrong with your ball flight. You will start the ball left typically because of your over the top move (-3 path). In order to hit the ball pretty straight (like picture #1), your face will need to be CLOSED at impact (about 1.5-2º). The loose right ball will come from your face actually being square at impact, because the face to path relationship is too far apart. This will also increase spin, height, and land angle.

Overall, your numbers are great...but with your path, you will want to hit a low pull cut to be optimal and keep it online.

Just remember. a Square face at impact is rarely the goal....

and yes that little over the top pull cut is the bread and butter

Benzo yeah if you hit up on the ball at about +1 degree you will get a lot more carry in theory. Also you can try a taller tee position. I am surprised that at around 110 swing speed you aren't closer to 170 ball speed on the top full swing.

Our path ratios are pretty similar, little pull cuts. I’m not going to sit here and dare propose to you to change your swing, but I will say out to in with a slightly more positive attack angle is possible.

Im typically 2 degrees out to in path wise with a slightly open face to path and about +2 AoA. Going from where you are to +2 will make a significant change to your launch conditions.

what initially messed me up was the idea of adding loft to the face to get my launch / attack angle up. The best mental thought that helped me was the concept of hitting up while still keeping dynamic loft as low as possible. (Aka trapping the ball vis a vis a pull cut) but with the swing bottoming out a little earlier. Keeping the same relatively low loft on the head but with a change to positive AoA is more than enough to greatly change performance off the tee.

Again not touching swing mechanics, the setup tip for me was actually to tee the ball lower and really focus on getting under the ball with the same path as normal. For me teeing up induced disastrous high right flailing misses.

There is a lot of good advice here so I will keep my post short. I can't tell too much about your motion and swing pattern just from the trackman information but I'm going to assume that you're delivering a closed face/outside-in path not because you have a tendency to early extend a bit with body stalling and your right arm extending through the shot and not because you have a lot of rotation through the ball and hit down with an open chest and hips. I agree with Eddie. You don't want to feel like you're hitting more up on the ball, because it will usually cause someone to extend their spine more through impact and you will lose face. Feeling like hitting a "trap draw" by keeping the right arm bent through the ball would help you achieve the correct swing dynamics but it would take some work to engrain that change. It would also be harmful to try to swing more in to out because it will make you extend your right arm sooner and stall more through impact. Instead, use the d plane to your advantage and pull your right foot back to have a close stance at address. This will neutralize delivery and help you hit a straighter ball. It's from Hogan, but Victor Hovland and Matthew Wolff are examples of tour players who hit a strong low spin tiny pull fade without changing your natural swing at all.

Working over the winter with a more forward ball position and a slightly higher tee height could provide a subtle AoA adjustment which could yield some free yards.

pretty fine margins though. If I was fitting you for a driver and that’s what you were consistently producing, we’d stop the fitting and write it up for order.

Be very careful about going too deep down the shaft testing rabbit hole. There are much easier ways to make changes in launch conditions than shaft swapping (which is fun, but can be dangerous to confidence and consistency).

@Eddie yesh…i don’t want to change the swing…just because it’s super repeatable right now for me. I have another trackman appointment tomorrow I’ll try some different tee positions to see.
