Always an equipment junkie but didn’t want to get into new releases since I’m not playing these days.
Was trying to find an uncut OG Whiteboard but they’re essentially extinct. Wanted to revisit a classic Vapor TW to pair it with but most are pretty beat up. Found a new in wrapper on a Blueboard on eBay but it went for pretty big bucks, north of $400 with currency conversion and shipping. To think I bought a few NIW for $200 a pop a few years ago…should’ve kept them.
Found this Nike VR 420cc tour van FTXXX build with some shop wear on the sole and shaft but it was intact and built. Color me surprised and angry when the back plate fell off. Was ready to fire off a message to the seller but then saw the double sided tape on the plate. It’s actually a cover to the hotmelt port. Scotch tape to hold it in place for the time being.
I’ll swingweight it tonight before I peel it off and stick it to the head. I’m stoked, love finding older gems. Wasn’t cheap but it’s cool and close enough to the Vapor TW I wanted to revisit.
I have realized that chasing low spin is great but I’m not good enough to play low spin and keep it in play consistently any longer. Going to go back to a little higher spin to keep the ball straighter and this might do the trick. If not, it’ll make a good addition to my vintage bags.
