Do you make any equipment changes for the winter?

It is ridiculously cold here in Va, and of course it’s the time of the year where I actually have time play golf here and there.

My changes are to goto a softer driver shaft, from the XC to the VR to give me more spin to keep the ball in the air longer since when I’m wearing 382848 layers I’m not swinging anywhere close to summer weather.

other change for me is going to the spider putter since even private club greens have slowed down a little bit. It lets me keep my normal stroke and preventing me from having to smack putts to get them to the hole.

thinking about tinkering with ball too…

I’ll switch to a lower compression golf ball but otherwise don’t change much else.

Ping Norse jacket and a long sleeve tee keeps me plenty warm while walking without having to wear 37 layers and I’ll play in any temps provided there isn’t snow on the ground.

Other than loading up some scuffed up premium balls, that's about it. More about getting out and getting some air than playing well for me.

Eddie What year is this 2018??? I moved down to San Luis Obispo in 2019 my guy! About 3.5 hours south of SF and about 3.5 hours north of the SoCal crew.....aka the perfect spot. Come visit.....golf isn't great but tons of beaches and wineries here....oh and about 75 bottles of bourbon at the casa! Or we can slide down to Santa Barbara or Ojai for golf!

I tried using the avx as a winter ball, thinking softer might be better. With greens firm from the cold weather, I noticed it didn’t hold greens as well so I’m not too hot on this as a winter ball, I want a soft ball that spins well…. So I guess I’m staying with the prov1?

Eddie my experience is the AVX is the lowest spinning, other than the left dash. Give the Pro V X a try. It spins more than the Pro V. A rep told me they switched the spin on the balls X vs regular, and didn't feel the need to tell anyone, besides touring staff.
