PaulAllenPA No. Olympic lifting (deadlifts, snatches, clean & jerks) with squatting, bench press. Builds power and strength, but if you don't take it slow and use good form injury can result (which I argue can happen with many other modalities).

As Chubbs mentioned, I also would recommend Fit for Golf. There's a pretty good sale going right now (I think it still is), but if not, he has discount codes of 20%+ off the annual membership pretty frequently

Please don't do crossfit! Most of the people who run a crossfit gym know nothing about proper form for Olympic lifting. Plus it is big classes so no one on one to get the form correct. (can go on for hours on how crossfit cult is dumb)

Personal trainer lift weights and get someone to make a program for what you want is the best way to go.

iennis I tried a crossfit workout the other day per the recommendation of this group and now I have a bum shoulder! Thanks for the help Ennis! What kind of trainer do you use?

I use one of my buddies from college who has moved away and started an online coaching. Mostly just for a program since I have been lifting for some time. I would look for a decent gym around you and see if they offer a personal trainer.

That’s like saying I painted two rooms the other day and now my back hurts. Of course it does. Not defending CrossFit.

iennis I’ve been very lucky to have great coaches the 6 years I’ve been doing it.

TFixer5 I was doing the Snatch. Kicked my ass! My shoulder went out at the end and that was all she wrote

PaulAllenPA Bad coach/gym! Would never have someone doing a snatch with any weight until they had good form with a PVC pipe.

TFixer5 Not sure why they had me doing it. I'm a pretty strong 67 year old and maybe i surprised the coach a bit. Should I give it another shot once I can get my shoulder moving again?

PaulAllenPA It’s up to you. I might try to find some kind a HIT class to start with, but maybe get a mobility assessment before you do anything.
