I am going to Charleston on vacation and want to play the Ocean course. The Aerification schedule is June 21-25. I will be getting there June 30-July 5th. My question is do you think the greens will still be rough? I don’t want to pay $460 to putt on rough greens.
I would call and ask what their green punching process is, whether it is large hole punching or otherwise, and make a decision based on that.
but in general, I would avoid, or maybe at the very end of your trip.
Eddie Agreed here, wouldn't think about going at the beginning of your trip. Maybe toward the end but it's a risk. I've generally gone with a 2 week post aerification rule when playing golf, but that's just me.
Eddie these are my feelings also. I will probably just play a different course. I really was wanting to play the ocean course though.
A week later with skill of their agronomy staff might not be horrible but I still likely wouldn't risk $460.
Happened to me at Kapalua Plantation, but I ponied up for it anyway and it was worth it to see and play the course, and actually came off 18 paid for a replay and headed back to the 1st tee. Greens were bumpy but I wasn't going to back on Maui any time soon and glad I played it.
