Post up anything new you’ve tried this year. more importantly what about it didn’t work. The reason I ask for this is because while it may be a reason for you that was detrimental it could be the effect that someone else is looking for. This could turn into a nice repository of those good ideas on paper but not in practice. I’ll start. Futura 11.5 for slower greens. Turns out the head weighs 360 on 34”. Heavier heads wreak absolute havoc on my stroke leaving me to pushing a ton of putts. Also I need at least 45 degrees of toe hang for my stroke to feel comfortable, the 11.5 has more like 25. $taper lite shafts. Wanted to try a lighter steel shaft wi to the idea that it would give a little extra speed in the longer irons late in rounds when I really need it. Could not adjust to the feel at all, killed my tempo for quite a while. Definitely saw more chs but the bend profile was just so different from my modus it didn’t work. The c taper lite turned out to be the right choice.

Motore F3 7 Fairway wood shaft i thought this would be a great combo for the SIM2 FW head but it ended up launching too high. It’s a good match for the original SIM FW since that one launched lower and spun less. Autoflex 505x The distance gains were amazing but the dispersion was way too wild. I do have a 505xx coming to see if that will fix the dispersion Phantom X 5 I like how this sets up but for now it’s too heavy to be any good.

Armlock putter. Former belly putter and thought that it was going to be great. Had super high hopes, but I just couldn’t get comfortable with it.

I'm seriousness... PXG 0311T - just nothing exciting here, maybe it's the elevate shafts or the midsize Z-cord grips or whatever. Hype didn't equal my experience. Cleveland Zipcore wedges - not bad in any way, just not gains over the RTX4. Have moved on to TM Hi Toe v2, especially happy with 60°. MMT 105s - felt I needed to change timing too much. I'm anything but smooth and they felt like they needed smooth. Those are a few of the bigger blunders that come to mind

Bought a LAGP shaft and new grip for the flat stick. Turned out, I had the wrong hosel 🤷♂️ Restock fee + shipping both ways cost me maybe $100 and worst of all, wasted Dons time 🤦♂️ It was hilarious overall, but sucked ass-shits that I was a dumb dumb and didn’t double check 😂😂😂😂 1i - Big hits with it. I have (and up for sale, but that's a different thread to come or something. PM me? jk not really) a few failed experiments:

Wilson Staff Infinite Grant Park. Thought I wanted and liked a heel shafted putter. It worked for a few rounds until it didn't, and then it horribly didn't. Just too much toe hang.
Cobra King Utility iron from 2016. Stock shaft too soft/launches way too high for me. Can't seem to find the center of the face despite the bigger size. Found that I had better success with my 620 4 iron. Makes no sense.
Maybe the Kirkland wedges? I tried these just for the memes and funsies and ended up liking them for a few months. Then, I lent them to a friend and went back to my Hi-Toes and ended up hitting those just fine. Dunno, maybe less of a fail, but more of a honeymoon period ending kinda thing. I had switched from my Hi-Toes because I was struggling with my short game and wanted something radical to switch it up. Hence, Kirklands.

ZX7's (as of now). Coming from a thicker top line and sole clubs where I felt confident over shots, these I feel the opposite. Mainly mental but even hitting a 8-iron layup has me nervous on whats going to happen. I'll give it some more reps and see but might not be right for me.

I’ll throw some encouragement your way, I’ve gotten to hit them side by side with 770s and 790s and they are just as long and as forgiving, so I would say trust that they have plenty of smart design and tech to be manageable to play.

I can speak to this. Because of the heavier head weights, shaft choice is really important. I went through 4 different sets before settling into my current set.

Moni_SLO I’d say save some $ if you can grab the RTX4 instead. Nothing wrong with zipcore, just didn’t see any performance gains over prior gen. Just my experience.

Hitting on mats.

While I love Coastal Indoor Golf in Jax Beach because I can hit on TrackMan and get all of my data, hitting indoors on mats absolutely kills my right elbow because my AoA on wedges is steeeeep. I've been dealing with Golfer's Elbow since March thanks to one simulator session.

Obviously time off would help with it but I'm not going to do that. There's too much golf to play right now.

I'm seriously thinking of getting a g425 max driver 12 degree, playing it at 43.5" (adding weight as necessary for SW purposes with hot melt to kill the sound) as my off the tee three wood. Is this going to be a fail job too?
