I have always struggled with high launch high spin as my miss with the driver. SS avg around 124, slightly negative attack angle does not help. All this time during quarantine had me tinkering a bit too much.
I played my first round yesterday and decided to swap a three wood shaft into my driver head.
I normally play my Callaway Triple Diamond at 8 degrees, with a HZRDUS T1100 75g 6.5 at 44 inches. My miss being a high spinny push, that floats into the forest.
I swapped in a Diamana w70 x at 42.5 inches. It felt very weird at first, but after a few tee shots I was hitting these low bullets. I didnt seem to lose any overall distance (I assume I lost a bit of carry but made up for it in some roll out)
Has anyone every done this before? I felt like I could find the middle of the face every time and was extremely accurate.
Once I can get to a trackman I'll get some numbers and compare it to my normal driver shaft. Figured this would be a cool frankenstein club for now.
