With the limited amount of 'patrons' you should have an easier go of it at the merchandise building than most. I was there in 2019 on Thursday and we went to the merchandise building first and then shipped our gear back home. The shipping is key as it allows you to walk the course and not worry about carrying your crap all day long.
As you can imagine the operations team at Augusta is a well oiled machine and rivals the drive through line at lunch at Chik Fil A. Plenty of people to point you in the right direction and they are quick to move the line of people waiting to check out.
I would recommend soaking up the course when you are there. You will be able to see all of the players when they roll into Caves Valley later this year....so dont worry so much about which player you are following. My brother and I walked the entire course and caught up to Tiger when we could. Hopefully with the limited amount of 'patrons' you will be able to get to the front line of the ropes at any spot you choose. Standing next to the tee box at 12 is pretty legit. You can see players on 11 green, watch people tee off in front of you on 12, then watch players tee off on 13 (kinda hard to see them way back there).
If you see a chair that no one is sitting in, don't be afraid to sit in it. It is an unspoken rule if a chair is stationed somewhere you can sit in it even though it is not yours! Once the person who owns that chair comes back, they will just politely tap you on the shoulder and ask you to move.
