I have so many I'd be here forever writing them all down. Thankfully, I only "think" of one once I start my takeaway, which is usually "No ball, finish tall." What that means to me is, don't swing at the ball, but rather swing as if there is no ball on the tee (with driver) and complete the swing facing the target, hands high over left shoulder...and hold finish. With irons, I use a different thought most days.
In actuality, like you, I too keep a list of swing thoughts, keys and reminders. I admit to being a bit OCD. That being said, I have taken it to the next level. I've compiled a complete reference guide based on things I have discovered over the years regarding my driver swing, general swing, different situations and various types of bunker lies. So, when I'm out on the course and my swing goes sour or I get myself into a sticky situation, I have somewhere to look for immediate help. My list is designed to work nicely inside my leather scorecard holder so it's there all the time if and when I need it.
By showing these pics I am letting you into my inner sanctum, spilling some of my deepest, darkest golf secrets. I feel a bit exposed, frankly, and if I knew you all personally, I probably wouldn't show you this, or even admit to it. But, I have to say, it has helped me out many times over the years. I continually add to it by hand. When there are enough additional handwritten thoughts on the pages, I redo the printed version to include the scribbled notes. They are in a tabbed format broken out by driver, fairways/hybrids/irons, chipping/pitching, bunker play and problem lies. It is an extreme amount of info, of which I only refer to when necessary. But, it saves me a stroke or two every now and then. I take my scorecard holder with me anyway, so might as well have some more useful information in it, too.
