Travel Club Bag

Sorry if this has already been posted but I didn’t see any specific threads. In need of a travel bag for my clubs and would love some suggestions.

ncc Club Glove "The Last Bag" is one of the most famous ones. If you live anywhere near a PGA Superstore they actually had them on sale from ~$325 down around $170-180 because that particular model is being phased out I think. They are keeping the collegiate, which is a little smaller, and the XL, which is probably too big, so if you can find the original it's an absolute steal.

Club Glove fan here, collegiate model is big enough for my needs including packing in define clothes.

Club Glove for me. I have had mine for over 10 years and it’s still in great shape. I would suggest to avoid black or blue as those are more common and can easily be mistakenly taken

Have the Last Bag from CG. It’s great, but too big. Just got a Collegiate model and will be using for the first time in a couple weeks.

I have a Titleist one that I won in a pro-am roughly five years ago and it's holding up greatly.

I have a Club Glove for domestic travel and a SKB hard case for international travel.

Admittedly, the hard case is a pain and not the right choice if I have to share a car with anyone but the level of protection does mean that the airlines are responsible for damage as opposed to when you use a soft case. The hard case also gives me the ability to bring a carry bag and skip the Stiff Arm.

OffTheDole it’s funny you mention the hard case for international flights. I have never had any issues flying internationally with clubs and I fly overseas at least once a year. The only issues I have ever had were domestic flights.

Question for those who travel with a Club Glove or any other soft bag: do you do anything other than use a Stiff Arm to help protect your cubs? Removing heads from woods, etc.? For example I have a friend who wraps his clubheads with a couple pillows for some extra peace of mind. This year will be the first time I'm flying with clubs so I don't really have any clue what I'm doing.

Jake I have always taken the woods apart and wrapped the rest of the clubs with towels. I have never used or owned a stiff arm but I have a ton of friends who swear by it.

Jake After having a driver snapped and putter bent a few years ago, I got a stiff arm, wrap everything with 2 players towels, and sometimes take the driver head off and put it in my carry on but it's not really necessary with the stiff arm and wrap.

I have a hard case and it is 100% an absolute bitch to lug through an airport. If you are doing a rental car make sure it is a SUV or minivan at your destination. Zero give on the hard case 🤣😂

Even though it is a pain, I 100% recommend the hard case.

A family member worked the “ramp” at Reagan National for several years and said the hard case is your best bet. Golf clubs go through hell and are the bane of the existence of baggage handlers. They are large, awkward, and just tossed around with no regards for the contents.

I am that psycho that removes the driver, 3 wood, and 5 wood heads (pack those in my carry on) and use towels to wrap the iron heads and then put the rain cover on the bag over all of that.

My friend had his stiff arm and driver shaft snapped. He was using his Club Glove travel bag.

Always remove the driver head if you can!

Heads of woods removed. Irons in bag upside down. Putter in upside down. Top of bag (grips) wrapped in golf towel to keep tight. Clothes packed in top of bag for cushioning.

Pro tip: pack a bunch of underwear in top of bag, TSA will leave ya alone.

I have a cheap Datrek travel bag that I have been using for over a decade. Has good padding. I remove my heads as well and they are in my carryon. Towels wrapped around heads and then shoe bag on top to provide cushion.
