I don’t trust any of the things I read anywhere else, so let’s create our own base of info about the 2021 drivers that are coming out. Feel free to compare or provide any insight, as informal as it may be, and also let’s see what each of us starts with and ends up with by the end of the year. The obvious contenders are the Epic line, SIM2, g425, Tsi, Srixon, etc.... I got to see the 425 LST head and ugh, it sets up really well. I still think my fall back this year will be the Tsi3 in 10 degree. Going to be able to test the SIM2 pretty thoroughly soon as well.

Looking forward to the reviews. I’m not a chronic upgrader of the driver. The only reason I have a SIM is because TM replaced an M6 for me and I requested a SIM over the Max.

I’ve been a G400max Ho the last couple years. I did not jive with the G410 so I went and stockpiled backups in the 9* and 10.5* heads. There has just been too much hype from the G425 users that I am going to give the LST and the Max a go this week. Stay Tuned .....

Ping G425Max and LST head I have hit both heads extensively now and I will say I have ordered one of these. The LST is noticeably smaller than the Max and it is very low spin. I almost have trouble spinning the 10.5 enough to stay in the air. The LST also is a little more muted than the Max. I am going to go with the Max because I can get the swing weight down to something more reasonable with the lighter weight. The LST comes with either a 14g or 17g weight while the Max comes with the 23g weight. The Max head with the 14g weight head came in at 193.5 which works well with the 45.5 cut length that I will be playing it at. Epic Speed Epic Max The shape of the Epic Speed reminds me more of the Subzero and it has a good amount of bulge and roll. The spin was relatively low but it definitely had more left bias for me which I do not prefer. The Max head looks like the Ping G425Max. Just big and forgiving but the spin was not as low as I would like it to be. I think the LS head would be the one I would be looking at but they did not have the demo in stock for me to try. Srixon ZX5 and 7 From a looks perspective these look really good but they super low spin. All I could get were knuckleballs. Srixon should put these at $450 to under cut the competition. At $529 there are way too many options for people to even consider a Srixon driver. SIM2 #staytuned

dphatt I think the LS head would be the one I would be looking at but they did not have the demo in stock for me to try. Is the LS head now more like the triple diamond instead of the SZ head?

I’m looking forward to trying out the Epic Speed. I like the traditional look & the potential of some added forgiveness. We’ll see if it can knock the TS3 out of the bag.

Eddie I am waiting to see how the LS looks. There will be a Epic Speed Triple Diamond that will come to retail. It will have the usual subzero front and back weight.

There are actually three different triple diamond heads on tour apparently. Callaway has gone a bit mad imo with all these heads.

I feel like there has always been a hot driver or two every year for the past decade. This is the year that I feel like there could be 5 legitimate big dogs. I sort of wish I had that club champion/tourspec adapter on my shaft so I could try a lot of different heads but we all know that I'll just buy 4 shafts and different adapters. Problem is finding more of my beloved 5 year old Accra Tour Z shafts. Eddie's paintsplash Accra will have a the Ping G410/425 adapter on it momentarily in hopes that its the gamer. It has always been my interchangeable go to when the tempo got quick since it worked better for whatever reason.

After looking at a lot of the TM staffers bags I noticed some were playing the 10.5 head set to lower so I went in to experiment with this set up. I used the same shaft as I did with the other test a few days ago. The SIM2 10.5 set to lower produced good results but it still had the occasional high spin result. I then moved to the SIM2 Max 9 degree set to lower. I didn’t have high hopes for this set up since I thought it would be too low and fade biased. This set up really surprised me. I was able to turn it over and the highest spin I saw was 2700. The lowest spin is the one pictured. This might be a running candidate to beat the gamer.

Eddie I may need to figure out a new driver. I'm having a weird situation where my last two times out I've been hitting the ball very straight, but it feels/appears that I've lost a good 10-20 yards of distance. It's the oddest thing. I would love to blame my driver face, but the club isn't that old and I'm not even sure if that is a real thing.

DaHOF i noticed a little distance loss my last couple rounds too. I've just chalked it up to me not compressing the ball enough for full distance and the cold weather.

on another note, local roger dunn had the sim2 demos in. was able to hit the stock clubs, drivers and hybrids. Sound off the sim2 and sim2 max was not as muted as sim, in my opinion. Sounded like getting a nice pop off the driver, albeit in an indoor environment. Now to test with a better fitted shaft to me when they become available.

Eddie I was playing a SubZero Epic Flash for a while. My driver now is a Mavrik (10.5 turned up 1). I've always had launch issues after growing up in Kansas and playing such a low ball flight because of the winds. However, I've done enough now that I don't really have that issue (especially in the last 6-12 months). Now that you mention it, maybe I'm just launching the ball too high and it is a spin problem. Perhaps I will de-loft my driver to the standard setting or even take it down 1*.

I feel SIM 1.0 will go down in history as the second incarnation of the SLDR. Incredibly high launch and low spin with a bit of a temper to hit straight.

But I've got mine now dialed in on the upright side two clicks lower, and man I just don't know what will beat it. I am definitely longer with a 9 degree SIM head, but 10.5 is pretty forgiving on less than optimal strikes.

For my 2021 driver chase, I'm going with the easiest driver I can hit. If I think about it, let's say I hit 60% of my fairways.

Of the fairways I hit, having an extra 10 yards will be maybe one less iron into the green, but if the 40%of my missed fairways are closer in play, I would take that.

I had a speed check session this morning, and I'm happy with how I'm progressing, I just want something easy to hit that doesn't spin too much.

Right there with you Eddie. At the very least I'm starting the season with something easy. G425 max is the obvious candidate, but I haven't been able to test anything yet. A buddy of mine has had surprisingly positive TSi3 results, so I'll test that and the SIM2 I'm sure.

I played a SIM 10.5 set all the way to lower with a Rogue White 130 70tx all of last season and when I'm on it's like cheating, but things can definitely get a bit sketchy when I don't have my best stuff. With the amount of golf I actually play, I need to cut that down as much as possible.

I just grabbed a SIM head in 10.5 to replace the M3 (440) on my fujikura pro 63 tour spec shaft to tide me over for a few months until I can tighten up these swing changes and get into a fitting for one of the new drivers.

Not a 2021 driver I guess but spent awhile at the range today dialing in my new PXG Proto.

Really enjoying the adjustability and really quite surprised by the results as i was expecting to need to loft up and get the extra weight in the heel to promote a draw. Ended up going to the PXG setting (-3* flat) and putting the heavier weight in the toe. No numbers so obviously just based on eyes and feel but man did it look and feel good.

Sold my Ping G425 after 2 rounds and a couple of range sessions. I hated it, the sound made it seem like I was hitting the ball terribly. Onto the sim 2 for me now.
