My 2020 was a tale of two halves. Within the first 4 months of 2020, our basement flooded, I got into a car accident with my 3 year old daughter, our oven went out(twice), I developed some crazy allergic reaction that prevented me from working, Covid happened and my "bonus dad" looked like bladder cancer was going to get the best of him. Then, the year kind of turned around.
My "bonus dad" miraculously turned everything around, his tumor shrunk and he is living a rather normal life, I was nominated for 3 teaching awards (won 1 of them), I got to play in 2 major, local golf tournaments, I raised over $1,000 for suicide prevention, I was able to meet some of you on IG and then join this site and my family was able to stay healthy.
Also, my mental health improved greatly. I am someone who has had a pretty good sparring session with depression over the past 3 years. Luckily, I was able to to find many positive outlets this year (this forum being one) and get on the proper mixture of meds that I find myself ending 2020 in the best mental shape that I have been in for a few years.
Most importantly, the shutdown in Illinois allowed me the opportunity that spend tons of quality time with my son, who was born on Christmas Day 2019. It was absolutely incredible to spend all of that time with him and see him grow and develop each day.
Cheers to all of you and I wish you all nothing but the best for 2021.
